congratz,LowerStandards! did you transfer from u penn to dartmouth?

I am transferring from Clark University (a truly spectacular place). I got into Penn and Cornell as a transfer student and decided on Penn. Since I found about Dartmouth this morning though, I most like will be withdrawing from Penn and heading to Hanover. I'm in SAS at Penn studying econ (I really wanted to do finance in Wharton, but I didn't have prerequisites to get in). I am hoping I can do finance at Dartmouth. How do you guys feel about that move? Would you do it?

No, I'd stay at Penn ;)

congrats!!! :D
Finance in dartmouth is deft. great!
btw, ould you give me some suggestions about applying dartmouth? I sent you a message.
Again,you are awesome!

Great thing about Dartmouth - Places with the other big four - HYPS.

Great thing about Penn - You can take classes at Wharton.

I'd still go to Dartmouth.

THERE IS NO FINANCE AT DARTMOUTH! There are just a couple classes in Econ that are finance classes.

Courses for Dartmouth Economics Department

I'm sure you could try to take some classes at Tuck to if you wanted as electives. I would suggest going to Penn because of Wharton.

Yeah, but doesn't Dartmouth place better than Penn CAS?

um...agree with bourne.
I think Dartmouth is better place for undergraduate...if someone is not interested in business. >,<

Oh yeah, Congrats btw. Bet it's been a hard time for ya.

So for future reference -- concerning those who are waitlisted for the coming terms, what exactly did you do again? You emailed the prof's in your prospective department? Which would be -- Finance? Seems weird? Always assumed Dartmouth didn't have a Business school?

What exactly did you do?

Lowerstandards, I find it hard to believe you received an E-mail Friday or Saturday, considering everyone that is involved with transfer admissions has been out of the office since Thursday...

Dear Stuartudall,

I really do not like what you are implying. I received an email that was sent Friday night at 5:07 from a person from admissions at Dartmouth explaining that I would be officially accepted on Monday. The admissions counselor was letting me know ahead of time since it is so late in the game (and I am guessing they want my response asap). And no, I will not tell you the name of the person who sent me the email. Ive recently read your former posts on this thread and it seems you have been rather aggressive and have had many conversations with their admissions. I fear that if I give you this admission persons name you would do something crazy like call up and demand to know why you werent taken off the waitlist.

Please dont forget that everyone on the waitlist is an amazing candidate and is well deserving of a spot. I bet the most important thing that distinguishes ourselves from one another is the major we applied from at Dartmouth. If you applied as an English major and a Japanese spot emerged, they were going to pick me because I applied with interests in studying Japanese. You could be smarter, more qualified in your major, and friendlier with the admissions staff, but you just arent what they need.

I am offended by these accusations suggesting that I am a liar. I will not post my stats, because I am fearful of what some of you will do with them.

I also want to thank vickywang89, gobackto2005, Bourne, and Sachmoney for being supportive and contribution positively to the conversation.

Stuartudall, youre just a ******.

I fear that if I give you this admission person’s name you would do something crazy like call up and demand to know why you weren’t taken off the wait list.

You know what, that's EXACTLY what I planned on doing. Wow, you're so *ing clever there. THANK GOD you saved the admission's staff from me calling and demanding to know why I wasn't taken off the wait list. You're a real saint, Lowerstandards. Hey * for brains, while we were on it, my name is STEWART, not Stuart.

Really? Major? That's cool. I always thought colleges never took majors into account because they're so unpredictable -- changing majors and such? Also that would be an easy way to game the system. Hmm.

Is their Japanese department nice? I always thought Dartmouth only had an Damell/Asian Studies major -- and only within that major could you choose a specific Japanese plan of study? Never knew you could major in Japanese. That's cool though. Did you talk to professors within your department -- Oops. You said you did. Which ones ? Japanese or Finance?

So Dartmouth>Penn CAS?

I don't know. Penn looks like it has a more developed Japanese program and with econ at both places you can't go wrong. I think ultimately it's going to come down to tuition and convenience. Dartmouth is only a little more than 2 hours away from my house (Penn is about 6) and I think it's going to be about 4 thousand a year cheaper. Plus, I already have some good friends who attend Dartmouth, so maybe the transferring process will be easier socially.

I'm heading to Dartmouth on Thursday to hang around campus for a few days. I only wish I had visited Penn. Now I have nothing to compare the experience to. But if I'm feeling Dartmouth, it could be enough to make me switch.

Stewart, sorry for spelling your name wrong. Lets make up. There is no room for bad feelings on this thread.

Just to let you know, I wasn't being supportive. I was merely pointing out (at the time) a hole in your email thing since you said you talked to your department and you wanted to study finance. I realize now that you were talking about the Asian Studies department.

I think you're being a little paranoid about Stew, and I don't think Stewart has been aggressive. He's just been inquisitive towards the admissions department, considering that he's really passionate about the school and that they've repeatedly given him information prolonging the process.

Lowerstandards, I'll be quite honest with you. If you have actually gotten off the wait list, then I wish you nothing but the best - consider this congratulations. I don't think there is anybody on this forum that would tell you that I have not been supportive of everyone's endeavors and dreams. You jumped the gun on attacking me. I didn't mean to come off condescending, but do I have doubts that you have actually gotten off the wait list? Yes, I do, and I have several reasons for my doubts. Call me what you will, aggressive, crazy, whatever - but I'm also trying to hold onto a dream as well. I have a pretty good idea what's going on in this process, and from what I've been told repeatedly, until the freshmen wait list is closed, the transfer wait list will not even be considered. Since the freshmen wait list has gone on much longer than expected, this will push the transfer wait list well into early July...

I would be thrilled if you got off the wait list - that means they are actually going to consider transfers this year!! That would be wonderful news. But, I'm sorry, until you give me a reason to believe it, I am going to stick to what my regional officer and the rest of the staff has told this "aggressive," kid the last few weeks...

hi guys, has any of your status homepages changed?

Hey Vicky, mine changed this morning for the first time since the 29th...There's absolutely nothing now...No wait list confirmation form, no e-mail address verification, no nothing...How about yours?

i can't even log into my page
