**Dartmouth 2014 Waitlist Thread**

I haven’t gotten it yet
What did yours say?

You guy’s email said no final decision? :[
mine said definite no. oh well…

^ not a waitlistee but a future applier and for first, colleges like Duke and other top schools definitely rank their students. The people don’t share about their process but I know from a friend that they indeed do it. They have this weird formula for calculating SAT, GPA, and other placement exams that allow them to rank students. I don’t know why they don’t say anything about it (maybe b/c the admissions people don’t wanna stress ppl around). I guess that ranking extends to the waitlistees as well, so don’t be surprised lol.

I got an email that basically said there’s no room in the class as of right now, and it may be weeks before they know whether spots will become available, but they’re keeping my “candidacy active.”

So did everyone get this email or were there some rejections as well?

I’m pretty bummed because Brown is not taking anyone off their waitlist (besides a few class of 2015 offers) and now it looks like Dartmouth won’t either :/

This is what I received:

"Three weeks ago we wrote to you regarding the status of our waiting list. Since then, we have been closely tracking the number of students who plan to enroll in the fall. At this point, our entering class is fully subscribed.

We appreciate your patience as we have been monitoring the replies to our initial offers of admission over the past several weeks. During this time, we have been sensitive to the large number of people who accepted places on our waiting list relative to the small number of places, if any, that may become available in our entering class. While it may be two more weeks or longer before we will know whether or not we will be able to make any further offers of admission, we would like to keep your candidacy active while we continue to monitor the entering class.

We hope you will remain on our waiting list. "

poop mine said this:
"Since we wrote to you three weeks ago regarding the status of Dartmouth’s waiting list, the Admissions Committee has been closely tracking the number of students who plan to enroll at Dartmouth in the fall. At this point our entering class is fully subscribed.

I appreciate your patience as we have been monitoring the replies to our initial offers of admission over the past several weeks. During this time, we have been sensitive to the large number of people who accepted places on our waiting list relative to the small number of places, if any, that may become available in our entering class. With this mind, we understand that we need to resolve the candidacies of many of the students who have chosen to remain on the waiting list.

**It is clear now that we will not be able to offer you admission to the Class of 2014. Accordingly, we are closing your candidacy for admission at this time. **"

ugh I didn’t get any email yet! :(

How many people do you think remain on the waitlist?

Yeah I haven’t gotten one yet either. They are probably sending them out in waves, though.

Got mine (if it helps, I’m on the West Coast and am an international applicant) just now. Same as everyone else’s. I wonder if anyone’s got the numbers on how many people remain on the waitlist now…

No email here,

Meh, I just want to find out that I didn’t get a spot off the waiting list so that my parents can buy me a car. Thats the only thing holding me back, because they don’t want me to buy me a car and then me go to Hanover.

D got same one as BigGreen…

“…We hope you will remain on our waitlist…”

Although the first is similar to Nathalia’s, the rest isn’t. So very sorry, Nathalia. If it’s any consulation, I don’t think it’s too encouraging right now for anyone. I hope you’re happy with your other options.

I think they cut about half of the applicants in the waitlist pool…just a guess though. What do others think?

I didn’t get an email yet. I was hoping for some email this week, yes or no, that would end this waiting. Now I don’t want it to end. But I think I’m one of those who will be rejected off the waitlist.

From the new waitlist, how many do you think they’ll take off if they even take off any? 3?

I didn’t get an email either. I really just want closure now, so I can finally just move on to NYU (or UofT).

I didn’t get an email. :/

Err… Didn’t get an email.

@xylem888 I feel the same way! I don’t want it to end because I don’t want to hear bad news, but there’s that bit of me wishing this would just end! sigh

I got the same email. I’m sure that everyone who has been following this thread is off to wonderful colleges next year, even if they aren’t Dartmouth. Best of luck to all!

I still haven’t received anything.
And sadly, I’m not =P

No message yet here, either. I can’t believe it all might be over in a few hours! Yikes. I almost don’t want to check my email for fear of being rejected :(
