Dartmouth 2015 Hopefuls

I think it's time for the Big Green to hop on the Class of `15 hopeful thread bandwagon.

\o/

I’m going to apply this year. Dartmouth is my first option.

I like Dartmouth in a lot of ways, but the greek scene freaks me out. I’ve never even had a sip of alcohol in my life, and it seems like the social scene at Dartmouth revolves around drinking.

I’ll definitely apply. Loved it when I visited, especially its sweet spot as a smaller Ivy league institution.

Though I haven’t been (at all) social in high school, the Greek scene is actually kind of attractive because I want to force myself to have some fun in college.

The greek scene doesn’t bother me at all, honestly. I love a lot of things about Dartmouth (outdoorsy, undergrad emphasis, etc.), I just worry sometimes about going to a cold rural locale from the urban south.

Definitely applying though, and I’m going to visit soon!

^ I’d be quite comfortable with the Greek Scene and athletic/outdoorsy is definitely a big plus.

I could probably overcome any inhibitions about the greek scene, hopefully. The outdoor excursions for incoming freshmen sound really awesome, too.

dartmouth sounds awesome! i love the outdoorsy environment especially since i’m into sports, nature, & all that. i’m definitely going to apply…idk if my grades will be good enough though but who knows! As for the greek scene, i think that the school’s big enough so that you can find other things that interest you. I’m not a big drinker myself, and there will always be other ppl like that so Jaddua, i don’t think drinking will be a problem.

Any current Dartmouth students care to share their experience with the Freshman DOC event? It sounds awesome.

As a rule, ruining anything about the DOC trip experience is something not to be done. However, I will say it is probably one of the best ways I can imagine to start your college career. It is incredibly fun, relaxing, surprising, and you make some of your first Dartmouth friends. Just make sure you go into trips with an open mind and ready to have fun, because it’ll be like nothing you’ve experienced before.

-Spunaugle

My outdoors-loving, hard-to-impress, not-too-social son was one of the few/only experienced freshman on his DOC trip. He said he initially thought it was going to be a wash, but quickly realized he was in for a totally new experience. He repeatedly commented on how “really neat” and well-run the trip was.

Haha yea. I feel the same way.

But outdorsy feel, strong programs, and super good campus food sound quite appealing. :)

I’m sure the stereotypes about Dartmouth’s social scene are exaggerated although I personally don’t mind the stereotype whether it is true or not.

Was just at Dartmouth this past weekend. So much fun. Honestly these are Ivy league kids, its not like the greek scene is even remotely imposing. Everyone is just super nice up there.

It feels so good to already be in and to be done with all the stress that you juniors are starting to go through

Haha, I’ll be applying too, I’ll be pretty excited if I get in. The Greek scene is probably nothing next to my state school alternative. (UT Austin is one of the biggest party schools out there).

Thanks oh-so-much!

I’m definitely applying. Not with very high hopes (or any hopes at all), but I’m definitely applying regardless…

D-Plan = Internship Heaven

I’m def applying, but it’s considered as a “high” reach of mine.

iPacman, approximately 9/10 applicants are rejected.

It’s a high reach for everyone, unless you’ve discovered a cure for cancer while simultaneously being the best violinist in the world.
