when are likely’s going to come out?
Homerdog…
You said:
“Harvard really uses their interviews as part of the process”
So does Harvard only interview candidates the school is already decidedly interested in?
What else can you share on Ivy interviewing?
How would you describe both Princeton and Yale and their interview process relative to Harvard and Dartmouth?
Ivies don’t preselect candidates before interviewing. It’s simply based on geography and availability of alums.
@chemlover22 Yeah. Not just Ivies. Any school which says this in the interview part of the admissions webpage, is being truthful. TOp colleges dont lie about anything.
in your applicant portal’s financial aid tab, what dates do you all have listed for items like your IDOC submission and W-2 forms?
update on liekly letter?
if anyone can check their portals for what i wrote in #904 that would be super helpful!
@dreamthief001 we didn’t apply for aid so can’t help you. Sorry.
@dreamthief001 my dates are 01/18/2019
I forgot IDOC cuz I’m dumb but my FAFSA was 11/18 and my CSS was 2/6
@dkahfdfhk I reckon you can still give it, but it’ll be late processing.
@Anyone. The dates dont matter as long as its processed, hopefully before the recommended dates.
Finaidcom takes time processing each file, and it depends how long it might take for the file to appear as processed (mostly 7-10 days on avg.)
@TheGuy1 The unselective interview rule only applies to US applicants. Not so much for the poor internationals…
@bertieprc That may be true. But i think selectivity’s only in a few countries? But when you ask the adcom/intercom, they say otherwise.
I’m +ve that the word of the institution should be true, but ig u never truly know.
US applicants include US citizens for most/all colleges?
@TheGuy1 unfortunate chinese applicant here, schools prescreen applicants because they dont want their alumni to be flooded by interviews
It’s unsafe to say that institutions cannot lie, and I think that they do a very good job at playing with words
Yeah US applicant means a person who does not need an I20 (Us citizens and permanent residents)
@bertieprc They are clever with word-play, thats guaranteed.
But remember, a lack of an interview will not negatively affect candidacy.
Again, an interview is offered to those apps who have alums in close Geo. Proximity, or so they say.
Lets say thats false. The only reason they might need an interview in that case is if:
- They need additional info from the apps side (in the form of an interview) to make a dec.
and/or
- They shortlist apps based on whom they think best fits the class (of '23 in this case). Then the ones of those giving the interview are re-read for another dec. (maybe due to a cap on no. of students from there)
Remember, this doesnt mean an automatic reject in any case. Hope for the best; at least by now, (or in 2-3 days more) the chance to give them everything you have will be over.
As long as you believe you’ve applied to the right set of schools for you with proper rational thoughts/goals regarding them, you should be fine regardless.
@bertieprc THanks for the clarifications btw
has anyone got likelys?
