@shocker7 my D’s interviewer apparently was assigned to interview her three weeks ago and never followed through. We contacted admissions and arranged to have a skype interview next week. My understanding is the interviews do not matter much- they are also to sell you on the school which is not really necessary if you applied ED.
Did she get in and what were her stats
@Singaporekid99 Yes, she is a freshman.
ACT: 33, Super score 34 ( Ivies do not super score however) GPA: 102/100, 10 AP classes, 4 and 5 on all AP tests. SAT 2’s Math 2 and Chem 750’s. Somewhere in the top 10 out of 300 ( do not rank at my HS). State, national titles in clubs, published research, compelling essay about a family struggle.
Just had my alumni interview today – super nervous!
@Meiyonnaise How’d it go?? Wishing you all the best!
Wow wow those are great stats
I had my alumni interview about 2 weeks ago. I was really nervous, but my interviewer was super friendly and we ended up having a lot in common
Any sense as to whether your interviewers had seen your personal essays, etc.?
I don’t think mine did. He seemed to not know anything about me except for my name haha
@chemlover22 – Thanks for the info!
@Hopper2019 no problem! is your interview coming up?
My son’s interview is on Tuesday. He’s a bit nervous, but excited. Sounds like the interviewers do a good job of making it a pleasant experience. Best of luck to you in the process!
@Hopper2019 The interview should not be a problem at all! Pretty much all alumni interviews are very pleasant. I believe as long as you don’t screw up or show any kind of inconsistency from your application, you are good to go. You can try to impress the alumni or show a different perspective of your character, but most of the time, the interview itself does not weigh that much.
Do admission officers not read an app until an interview is conducted or do they read it once before an interview and once after?
@Shocker7 I’ve been wondering how that works too.
Lots of people have interviews around this time, does that mean that they don’t read our apps till later and then do when our interview report is there or how would this system work? Might we be disadvantaged if we had a later interview?
@AudreyKang I think it went well! Though perhaps I asked my interviewer too many questions about Dartmouth haha
Not applying to Dartmouth, but my friend just committed there for swimming! Super excited for her, she deserves it.
@Meiyonnaise I don’t think that’s a bad thing! Shows your interest.
@Tachanka11 – Thank you! My sense is that the interviews are just as you state. They seem to be a nice way to keep alumni involved with the school as well.
