So, all the other nines on this board - how are you finding your time at Dartmouth?

I am loving it - my classes, the people, everything.... I have no words at how happy I am that I ended up here. Further proof everything turns out the way it should.

Best of luck to this year's applicants... hope to see some of you in a year!

Hey G,

I am so glad to here that you are having a wonderful time. Have you gotten used to the walk from the river?? I think after while it is not really that bad, but it hasn't gotten cold yet either.

Dartmouth IS amazing. Everything about this school astounds me--the diversity of people and ideas and the opportunities and the incredibly amount of resources and all that they do for their students...I think that Dartmouth is an incredible place and if you're a bit undecided right now, definitely apply. This experience is too good to be passed up.

As they say in McDonaldland...I'm lovin' it! The classes are challenging but not overwhelming, the location is spectacular, the people are incredibly diverse (the roommates in a room across the hall from me are Mormon and Pakistani) and very friendly, not to mention highly intelligent. Food's not too bad either :) I honestly could not see myself being at any other school in the country and loving it more!

Yeah Dartmouth is magical. I wish more people knew how great it is.

i'd like to proclaim my love for dartmouth too: <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 mmm... i should get on hw now, lol

Well not really. In the five years it would have taken to get 2 Bachelors degrees in engineering I got a Bachelors and Masters from a school with a better reputation. Dartmouth is still awesome though. I still wonder if I would have become a history professor instead if I had gone there.

Classes are tough and strenuous, especially those with size under 20. But I love what I have to learn, the feeling of which is within.
Language courses are amazing! Get frustrated sometimes because of the fast pace of the class, but that returns a lot of benefits.

Sybbie,
Well, it's only significantly bad at two times of day - when sleeping through one's alarm and waking up at 9:50 for a 10 on Thursday morning (Wednesday nights are going to be trouble... I can sense that already ;) ) and late at night, walking back - it's hard to force guy friends to walk two miles round trip out of their way...

But yeah, we claim that we're all going to take auditions for our winter term boyfriend by where they live on campus, so we can base ourselves out of a closer dorm... sad thing is, we're only half joking!!

Hope all is well with you!

a 9 wrote about his Dartmouth experience in yesterdays edition of the Dartmouth...

As an '09 who's only been at Dartmouth for a mere three and a half weeks, I'm definitely still in my "take one step forward and two steps back" phase. There's still so much to learn as I fumble and bumble my way around trying to get into the groove of things. Yet despite my best efforts, I have not shed the characteristics and mannerisms that so effectively indicate my '09 status. I'm still the kid who has trouble finding his classes in the morning; the kid who walks in late everyday to his 7:45 drill; I'm the kid who once forgot to pay for his food at Thayer and had to endure the admonishment of the cashier (not to mention the snickers of many an upperclassman); and, last but not least, I'm the kid who stumbles anxiously into the frats only to get absolutely demolished at pong by guys who are infinitely more woozy and intoxicated. And yet, despite all this, and despite the fact that I still bear the status of a faceless, anonymous 'shman who doesn't have a clue in the grand scheme of things here, there is one thing that I can say absolutely and unequivocally: this place is fantastic and I love it here. More than anything else, Dartmouth and the people who comprise it inspire me to be better, and I for one am very excited for the next four years.

I LOVE DARTMOUTH. I thought I'd die after being rejected from my first choice school, now I am sincerely glad that I did not go there. Nowhere compares to this school. It is perfect.
