<p>Dartmouth is tied for #10 with Caltech in 2013 USN&WR</p>
<p>Yeah! We were very happy to see this great school make the top 10.</p>
<p>“Top 10” has a nice ring to it, but I would get too carried away about it. They might likely fall back out of the top 10 again next year. Dartmouth’s USNews ranking has bounced around between 10 to 12 for several years now. I consider bouncing around a few places like that to be just “noise” in the data rather than any real change in their ranking.</p>
<p>I agree, coureur. I also think that Dartmouth suffers in those rankings from being neither fish nor fowl: somewhere between LAC and full-fledged research university.</p>
<p>Dartmouth is also tied for #1 in the “undergraduate teaching” category (with Princeton) and in the HS Counselor category (with a handful of other schools).</p>
<p>And the rankings mean nothing if you aren’t happy and learning and don’t develop as a human being. Eventually, it’s what’s inside you that counts.</p>
<p>I’m okay with that.</p>
