Dartmouth boring?

What is the social life like at Dartmouth? What do students do for fun - does it ever get boring becuase it's a small school basically in the middle of no where?

There are already a number of threads asking the same thing. Have a look around :)

Dartmouth is known for having really happy and content students and probably the best social scene among the Ivies.

Dartmouth has an incredibly vibrant and dynamic social scene. The campus is alive with tons of happy go-lucky students and countless activities. I attended Columbia and transferred, and I found Dartmouth to be far more fun. Another level of fun.

Slipper1234 : How would you rate Dartmouth's academics compared to Columbia's?

Personally I much preferred the LAC-y feel of Dartmouth. Dartmouth felt "homey" while columbia often felt like the government. At Columbia I would have famous professors, but with that came huge lectures, T/As, electronic curves, etc. I personally liked the intimate classes, attentive professors, and lack of T/As at Dartmouth much more. I also felt that Dartmouth did a far better job of making students aware of grants and other opportunities. But Columbia did offer a wider range of classes and more majors (sanskrit for example). Also in certain majors (creative writing, film, studio art, some engineering) were superior at Columbia. But the overall experience at Dartmouth was better. In terms of difficulty, they were on par.

slipper: Well thats wonderful! Thanks for the info.

The one thing I should mention about Dartmouth is that I think that Internationals, used to a more urban scene, might not be as into Dartmouth culture.

erm....why is that slipper?

slipper: Some internationals can be from more rural areas ... ;)
