Dartmouth bound program

I'm currently working on my application for this because Dartmouth is my absolute number one choice and this could give a bit of a boost to my app next fall. Right now I'm writing my essay on why I want to go, and I was wondering what they are looking for.

Does anyone know any info on how hard it is to get in to Dartmouth Bound?

Like, what are they looking for in an applicant, especially in the essays? Someone who really wants to go to Dartmouth, or someone who may consider it, but isn't sure and would like an extended visit?

Also, I've already visited campus once; will that look good or bad?

Thanks in advance for any help y'all can offer :)

I would like to know too. I actually just visited Dartmouth on friday, and it’s definitely my favorite school at this point. The one thing I’ve heard is that they really emphasize writing, so you want to have a really good esaay

Well I was looking at statements made by past participants and one persons thing said something along the lines of “she never even heard of dartmouth before dartmouth bound” and she apparently attends the school now so idk If that’s what they want or that was just one of their choices.

Who is eligible for Dartmouth bound?

Overall the Dartmouth Bound is like a mini application. In the past students accepted to Dartmouth Bound had a pretty decent chance of getting accepted to Dartmouth (the year my D went, there were quite a few students she met up with again at Dimensions).

In the past couple of years between the increased number of applicants and the overall strength of the pool nothing is guaranteed.

Just like the regular application, instead of trying to figure out what Dartmouth wants to hear, Just be yourself and show them who you are.

Hey guys! I did the Dartmouth Bound Program and I’m happy to answer any questions. As for as competitiveness goes, I think about 300 people apply and 80-90 get in. However several people who don’t get into Dartmouth Bound are accepted for admission to Dartmouth and several people who do get into Dartmouth Bound are not accepted for admission to Dartmouth. As for the “why I want to go” essay, I wrote about how I never visited the college and my parents didn’t have the funds to make the trip to Hanover.

Students who go to Dartmouth Bound don’t get an edge from attending the program. Although everyone who went to Dartmouth Bound with me was accepted into really great places, not everyone got into Dartmouth. There were some wait-lists and rejections.

Dartmouth Bound is like a recruiting trip, they try to convince high-achieving students who may not have been interested in the college to apply.

@thecolororange The program is geared toward underrepresented minorities, but there were some white people and several Asians who came to Dartmouth Bound with me. If you are low-income or from a really rural area, I would definitely apply.

oh and there are TONS of free trips like Dartmouth Bound but a lot of colleges do them in the fall of senior year instead of the summer before and most of them are all expenses paid.
I attended Dartmouth Bound and a MIT trip. I received free trip invites from Cornell, Johns Hopkins, Middlebury, Amherst, Tufts and others.

If you are a low-income applicant definitely search around for these trips, it’s a great way to see some schools that are far away.

Hi, I know this thread was going on three years ago, but would anyone who has attended the Dartmouth Summer bound program in the previous years mind reading over my essay (don’t worry it’s only 500 words)?
