Current D students:
D at Darmouth wants to get a car for summer (work/internship, etc.); but out of state student. Can she keep her out of state license and register a car? How is the insurance in NH?

I was looking on state website, but it tends to mention switching licenses to NH, but that wasn't the plan. Wondered if any of you had success.

Thanks!

Any Dartmouth or New Hampshire students out there?

I’m a senior and I can vouch that the insurance rates are pretty cheap in comparison to some other places… don’t know about the out of state situation though

so you bought insurance in NH, registered your care there. I guess you have out of state license though. That is what I will look into. She wants to maybe have a car for a summer job…we will look around but I am a plane ride away. Have a great night!

D had a number of friends who actually purchased their cars in NH (the tax break was appealing) then registered them. I remember that they did have to change their license over and get NH licenses. The biggest obstacle that your D will have is finding a place to park on campus (if she is part of a sorority, then perhaps she will be able to park at her house…

Thanks. Maybe it isn’t hard to switch licenses, will have to look into it.
