Does anyone use BbOne with his/her Dartmouth card? I just got the brochure, and it says that you can get up to 50% off some things like textbooks. I was just wondering if it's worth it, and how much would one put on the card (since it doesn't roll over). Thanks.

Hi,

I don't remember D telling me about any discounts on books using her Bbone account. The way she whined about how much they cost, I seriously doubt it (if she got one, she wouldn't come straitght out and say so she would just keep the money:))

It basically works the same as a debit card. The one good thing about Bbone is that it is useful to know that you always have $$ one you (as you always carry your ID) as daughter usually does not carry a wallet. I did put her book money into her Bbone account (because I can put the money in online and she has access to it in about 10 mins.) while we do have a linked account they charge her to pull $ out of the bank. It is really a matter of personal choice and what works for you.

There is a $10 per-term service fee for BbOne. This fee entitles you to daily and weekly discounts of 25-50%. Balances on your BbOne account roll over from term to term and year to year and are fully refundable. However, unlike an ATM, BbOne funds are not available for immediate cash withdrawal. You cannot transfer funds from your Dash Discretionary account to your BbOne account or vice versa.

However you should put money on your Dash because you may need it for laundry. Do not place a lot of $$ D had $300 in dash and it was more than enough $$ to take her through the entire school year.

Thanks! ^.^

About how much money did you put on your D's BbOne account for the year?

About $1400 to cover her for books all three terms. BTW, she laughed in my face when I asked her about the discount on books :)

D saved the money from her summer job and had a work study job as a research assistant that paid her $10/hr so she was responsible for her day to day $.

thanks again!
