<p>DECISION: ACCEPTED</p>

<p>Objective: (info being written by mom not daughter)

  • SAT I (breakdown): 2240 SuperScore: 790 CR, 770 WR, 680 Math
  • SAT II: 800 English Lit; 780 Spanish<br>
  • Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 4.0
  • Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): school does not rank but in top 3
  • AP (place score in parenthesis): 5s in AP Engl, AP Span, AP Env Sci, 3 in AP Chem
(school limits sophomores to 1 AP, juniors to 3 and seniors to 4 APs)
  • Senior Year Course Load: AP Span Lit, AP Bio, AP Calc, AP Human Geo, Bilingual Public Health, English 12
  • Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): Natl Merit Commended Scholar. Girl Scouts Gold Award</p>

<p>Subjective:

  • Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): Captain- Varsity soccer (All-League 3 years, League Champs 3 years); club soccer top team 5 years; track, too many too list
  • Job/Work Experience: Tutors an ADHD girl 2 hrs/wk 3 years
  • Volunteer/Community service: Over 620 hours in high school, variety of non profits
  • Summer Activities: I don’t want to list too much because it will identify her but she had depth and leadership and initiative in several organizations that goes back many years (rather than just a single year or two)
  • Essays: Common App showed uniqueness; Suppl showed heart, it was the better
  • Teacher Recommendation: the best part of our high school; very personal, similar themes tying all 3 recs while each included a unique story of the rec person and my D
  • Counselor Rec: see above
  • Additional Rec:<br>
  • Interview: yes, went well
  • Supplementary Material: none outside of resume</p>

<p>Other

  • State (if domestic applicant):Calif
  • School Type: Private, small (class of about 60)
  • Ethnicity: White
  • Gender:Female
  • Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): Legacy (dad)</p>

<p>Reflection

  • Strengths: everyone has high grades & test scores; I think my D’s strength was her “package” – she has been into public health and diversity since she was in elem school; everything she has been involved with since reflects back onto those themes - along with the classes she chose to take in high school (e.g., AP Bio instead of the more “rigorous” AP Physics; AP Span Lit instead of AP Engl Lit)
  • Weaknesses: Math 680 (she took the test in Mar of junior year but after many practice tests, never got above this; some people told her to keep studying and try again but she said she was done & if a school didn’t like her for that, too bad – this acceptance shows you that it isn’t a single SAT section score…)
  • Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: unique, authentic person with a clear “story” that went beyond strong grades & test scores
  • Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Applied ED</p>

<p>**Decision: Accepted **</p>

[<em>] Counselor Rec: 9.5/10. On very good terms with my counselor.

<p>[/ul]**General Comments: **
Wow. I don’t know what to say, guys. Two hours before the deadline I was still frantically going over my essay and now I’m here  I procrastinated that much.
