Sorry, should have made it clear - PM me, please. easier to respond to.

@ oky1776 I asked our school counselor, and she said for ED/EA no senior grade will be sent.

woohoo finished my application for ED (: ACT-36 composite and 4 sat2s if anyone’s interested

Just submitted my ED app!! Fingers crossed:)

I think I’ll just be applying RD. As much as I love Dartmouth, I don’t think I’m prepared to list one school as my absolute favorite just yet.

Good luck everyone!! I wish you the best! :)

My son just applied ED! We hope he has a good chance, although I’m disappointed that the acceptance rate is still only 12% for non-athlete. Anyone know if that is a post-legacy stat as well? My son had legacy at 3 other Ivies, but chose D over them for several reasons. He is still a great applicant with excellent GPA, SAT, AP’s (total of 10 courses taken, so far has a 4 and four 5’s) very well rounded, hopefully great recs, though how you guys all know about the quality of recs surprises me. We will not have the opportunity to see any of them. We THINK his personal essay is quite good, but do all parents think their kids’ essays are good/great?

All that’s left now is the supplement, including his brother’s Peer Rec. It feels weird to say to his brother, “So, did you get the college essay written?” The Admissions Counselor who ran our info session told us that the Peer rec can be the thing that puts a “maybe” app over the edge, or could be the thing that stops a “maybe” app from continuing… no pressure! lol! :D

^^
Overall Acceptance rate: ~ 10%
Early decision acceptance rate: 25~28%

On what basis do you think that the acceptance rate is 12% for non-athlete?

someone posted earlier on in this thread that during and information session, they were told that the acceptance rate for non athletes for ED is around 12%

I was also told 12% at our info session, but she did not specify. I remember thinking that it was odd, since I thought the ED admit rate was much higher. I also asked if they could include a supplementary “why Dartmouth” essay and she said they don’t take “interest in school” into account at all. Then she said that ED app is like a “why Dartmouth” essay because of its binding nature. Worth a few “brownie points” she said.

Has anyone had their ED interview yet? Mine is Monday, and my interviewer just emailed me to say there will be two alumni interviewers there now…so nerve-racking!

^^ One of the things to remember is that they are going to want to like you. At least, that’s my mind set. It’s a lot more fun to be able to say, “This applicant is a perfect fit” than “Uh, no.” Don’t get too worked up over it and be yourself. (I know that’s a platitude, but people sometimes try to wear a different skin for whatever reason and it seldom works.) Good luck.

My3gr8byz-My son went ED (last year) and was accepted-non legacy, non athlete. I really think that Dartmouth does look for a well-rounded student. I still remember at our information session last year (it feels weird to say that now as a mom of a '17) he said that if they wanted every Valdedictorian they could have that. They don’t. They want different. Smart, yes. My son worked (a lot), was in Marching Band (a HUGE committment) and was in Mock trial, etc. He also did very well academically (took the ece’s) and all AP classes. This is a tough time for you. I feel for you and wish your boy the best of luck. My DS LOVES Dartmouth and this has been the best experience of his life. Good luck Go Big Green!!

acceptance for non athlete non NAD non legacy is <10.

and I was told back in high school major awards, GPA/SAT, peer rec, everything else is the order of importance

freefly - are you in admissions? Where are you getting that stat from?

ctmomtop3 - Thanks so much for the encouragement! My son is captain of the Mock Trial team this year (we cannot figure out if Mock Trial should be capitalized in an essay or left lower case!) and loves it! He’s also in all AP’s, has excellent GPA and test scores, and is NOT valedictorian! I’m so glad to hear your son is loving it there! :)

I ordered my sat scores in late October and the CollegeBoard Website says that my scores were sent in Nov 1. However on my Dartmouth applicant status, it says my scores have not yet been received. Is anyone in the same boat as I am right now?

I know it takes some time for Dartmouth to process/download sat scores, but I am kinda getting nervous now…

Has anyone been contacted for an interview yet?

My son just had his interview last night. He submitted the writing supplement on the 8th and got an email on the 10th from his interviewer. We live in a densely populated area where there are likely to be local alumnae. Hopefully you will get that call/email soon!!

im a Chinese girl.ive applied for Dartmouth ED as well

Best of luck to you, Rainbowumbrella! I like your username!
