Dartmouth Class of 2018 Early Decision

But if you’ve stated that your father has 50% ownership of a farm, then what? And you’ve filled out the farm section of the CSS?
Omg this is so nerve wracking.

I’m not sure then, my parents own neither so it was a non-requirement for me. However, it’s noted on the Dartmouth website that the supplement was due the same date as the application deadline, which was November 8 for this year. (Check here: [Early Decision](<a href=“Apply to Dartmouth | Dartmouth Admissions”>Apply to Dartmouth | Dartmouth Admissions)) That’s why I find this all a little strange. Did you file this when you applied?

Lol. Take it easy folks. I have not mentioned farm ownership but dartmouth has not asked me for business supplement or non custodial parent profile (not applicable)
probably means rejected, but need to have patience till the official verdict
What are lil signs you can watch out for to imply selection? Im sure there are many around.

Above comment in reference to myself.

@psych1
could u clarify what u mean by"I have not mentioned farm ownership but dartmouth has not asked me for business supplement or non custodial parent profile (not applicable)"

Ok, I think everyone shouldn’t worry on the business financial form. The official verdict comes out tomorrow so you can wait less than a day’s time (I know, I’m writhing inside, but what’s the use of worrying?).

Good luck to everyone! If you’re accepted, congratulations!
If not…really I could say something motivational, but it would only be a euphemism for "dang, what the heck, I got def/rej?!

thats kinda funny:D

Hi, parent here again. Just wondering how many of you have a close second school, or is D above and beyond? I WISH my son had a close second… that way deferred or denied doesn’t seem so bad. There’s still the waiting, though. He applied to another school EA, just to know if he HAD to do other apps if D said no, but dummy us didn’t notice that the school doesn’t notify til the end of January for EA!! Did I already ask this question?? No… I remember… I was on the Duke ED thread and kids were discussing the other schools they would apply to if denied, and Dartmouth was on many lists! My older son is a freshman at Duke and his best friend there had to choose between Dartmouth and Duke… Guess we know where HIS loyalties lie! ;)

Also, who has watched the Conan O’brien commencement speech for the Dartmouth class of 2011? Very funny!!

Well, is it being suggested that if Dartmouth has not been in correspondence with you in any way, a few days/hours before the verdict, you are not selected?
My CSS profile (international) says received and satisfied. I dont see why they can find a problem with it anyway.

I am serious about Cornell. I basically want a college that will see me as a STEM student, which is prolly the only way an international Asian can get in. I have a few Math Olympiad qualifications (like AMCs in my country) and 2400 in SAT science subjects and many other science-math related credentials. I hope some college considers these. (You can also offer me some advice?)
I am just trying to play to my strengths really. I cant hope to get into a Liberal Arts College while my orientation is as above. I love D but maybe it was a wrong choice, afterall.

I may be wrong, but I don’t think the farm/business supplement is applicable to internationals? The form has blanks for stuff like W-2 which I assume are specific to domestic students…

IMO it’s not any cause for worry; all the best everyone!!!

Psych, why wrong choice? I’m not familiar with how hard it would be for an international Asian to get in, but your “chance info” from earlier looked good to me. I know that a 680 or 690 is only a question away from a 700 and that there wouldn’t be a “bottom 25%” if somebody weren’t in it! I know a girl who got into Caltech and MIT with a 650 CR. And hey, no advice offering until after tomorrow when perhaps no advice will be needed! Cornell is on my son’s list and was in fact his top school for a while, but he wanted a smaller feel, while still having a school in the north that is “in the middle of nowhere” We decided to look at Dartmouth, and he fell in love with the physics and astronomy dept. so we are hoping that since their physics dept. is relatively small, they might want a kid interested in that less common field. But he didn’t attach a resume or art supplement or add extras to his app beyond the requirement, and somehow, that feels not competitive enough… He’s very well rounded with sport, music, leadership/club at school (mock trial) and volunteering.

How do you think your essay was? Did your peer recommender have great things to say about you, if you saw it? So your goal was liberal arts college with an Engineering school? My older son is in that situation at Duke. Pratt definitely has internationals. In fact, the first day we set foot on campus, my husband and I played pool with a really nice kid. He seemed friendly and a bit clumsy at pool, but it turns out he was a ringer!!

We have a business on our profile, and didn’t do an extra form and didn’t get asked about extra form. I will not get nervous! The portal/banner says we’ve done what was required.

Am I the only one who can’t sleep?

same here @uhohyikes
i keep checking CC for any updates but D has only about 1 per hour sooooo

man reading through these comments i can feel everyone’s nerves. its funny reading people’s comments trying to sound so calm when i can already sense the extreme anxiety lol. stop worrying peeps, whatever happens happens. good luck all!

Mygr8boyz
Im proud of these essays.
Teacher recos are great im sure. Peer reco is pretty awesome too  (by my friend on the olympiad team) these are crucial because theyre common to all colleges (theres no point mentioning this now in relevance to D alone, as the results are due in a few hours)
they all specifically emphasise that i am suitable to STEM based on certain qualities of mine etc, they know.

But yeah depends on what type of students D wants to recruit really. It is encouraging to know that D indeed has a rich STEM culture, though.

And yes… this way or that, I wish your son good luck!

so if you are missing a part of the financial aid such as the noncustodial parent and dartmouth has not contacted you for it, does it mean u didnt make it?

Hmm i dont think non custodial profile applies to most of us. Anyway a few hours to go. That wonderful school is a few hours away to around 500 of us.
Good luck everyone and stay strong.

Well at least we have the Champions League matches roughly an hour before the release time. I reckon most of you here don’t watch association football/soccer though…
