dartmouth coach called me last night

I got a call from him last night.
I was not prepared to answer anything he asked me, but i did my best
answer his questions.
he mostly asked me about how he will train me and how passionate I am about the track, and whether I need fincial aids or not.
I wasn't even thinking about Dartmouth since it is so up there that I cannot even reach, but after even I told him about low 2.84 gpa and ok SAT scores back it up, he still think i have good chance.of coarse, I explained english is my second language and attending tough high school. I am sure this is a just call to attract more people to Dartmouth, but I am pretty excited because this is first time someone actually call me. we had nice 45 mins talk and he told me he will call me back again. what do you guys think?

That is an excellent sign!!! :)

Mods please remove this thread. If D sees it she may become uncontrollably envious.Yeah, I'd say that a pretty good nudge from the coach. May not be enough , but I'd certainly send my app in.

If possible i would speak to the coach again, phone call or email. I would definetly try to visit the school so you can get a better feel for whether or not it is right for you. During the visit you can get a better read on how serious the coach really is.

This is great news ... coaches have limited time to spend on recruiting so if they are willing to spend 45 minutes talking to you they must be interested.

FYI - the Dartmouth web-site has track rosters that show performances so you can get an idea of how you stack up ... men = http://athletics.dartmouth.edu/sports/m-track/mtt/dart-m-track-mtt.html ... women = http://athletics.dartmouth.edu/sports/w-track/mtt/dart-w-track-mtt.html

I'd also suggest contacting coaches at any schools that are high on your interest list. Track is not a sport that recruits as heavily as football or basketball .. a little initiative on your part may open lots of doors for you!

That makes me sick. I hate athletes.

why do you hate athletes?
