Good luck to all the RD applicants! Just wondering if y’all applied to any schools in the EA/ED round?
I applied to UVA, Georgetown, Clemson, UChicago, and Trinity College Dublin EA.
I applied to Columbia, UChicago, UMich, and Fordham EA.
@maryelzz @dartagnaneb an alum in my area that I know actually received a request from Dartmouth to interview someone in my grade who submitted their RD application. I found this weird because why would they start reading RD applications already when they haven’t even finished ED (at the time this request was sent)? Maybe it just has to do with the high numbers of alum in my area, they are able to assign an interviewer to every applicant who submits an app without even looking at the app yet.
Hi everyone! Just joining this thread now…Dartmouth is one of my top choices. Good luck @maryelzz with the Columbia app! They come out soon, right?
Decisions just came out for Columbia ED, got rejected. But I’m really really interested in Dartmouth, still. Maybe I should have applied ED here instead, but I guess there’s nothing I can do about that now. Really hoping that Dartmouth likes what I gave them.
@maryelzz Applied to some other college in ED and got rejected. Strongly considering Dartmouth for RD now!
^ where did you get rejected from?
I got 710s on both of my subject tests. Would it be better to send them or not send them since they’re kind of low? I have a 34 ACT

@educationisgood I interview for another Ivy. Our EA/ED write ups were due on Dec 1. About Dec 8, RD assignments started coming out. While EA/ED decisions hadn’t been yet announced, the school sent out info for those real early-bird RD applicants. No reason to hold them back since the EA/ED interviewing was over already. I know I got two RD students assigned to me already and will interview them next week.
Good Luck yo everyone applying RD.
Good luck from the ED accepted group!! Hope to see you soon
Sent in my application the other day! Dartmouth is pretty much my top choice, but I’m kicking myself in the butt right now because I was too scared to apply ED. How much more selective is Dartmouth for RD applicants than ED?
@educationisgood I was accepted to Dartmouth ED and during my interview, my interviewer said I was her only ED applicant but she already had 2 RD’s assigned her that she was planning on interviewing in Jan. So i’m guessing the interviewer gets matched to you whenever you submit your application, and it’s up to the alumni to decide when they want to actually conduct the interview.
@mtinchicago Some people tried to do the math and decided that it’s twice as easy to get in ED than RD, but I don’t think they factored in legacy applicants-- only recruited athletes. I know that’s not a GREAT answer but Dartmouth is adamant that anyone accepted ED could have gotten in RD as well. Good luck!
Is an interview required for Dartmouth?
@cisobelm My son is a '20 and never had an interview. If you are offered one I would take it though.
For subject tests, I sent my 800 and my 670 : (
Now I’m wishing that I didn’t send my 670 - does anyone know if I can request the admissions office to not consider the 670? What is everyone’s thoughts on subject tests at Dartmouth?
