hey guys, I’m a freshman at Dartmouth right now. Thought I’d pop in to answer any questions you might have, whether it’s about the college, application process, or whatever else. I applied ED last year and remember how tough waiting to hear back is-- best of luck!
In terms of likely letters, most colleges (Dartmouth included) send them only to athletes or other special cases (e.g. Cornell will send likely letters to certain applicants, such as female engineers). Unless you are a recruited athlete, you probably will not be getting a likely letter. As for interviews, I thought mine was kind of mediocre. It seemed to suffice, though My advice is not to worry about the interview; I’ve heard they generally don’t affect your candidacy a great deal.
@deycmerolleing I’m hesitant to post specifics, but I will say that I was somewhere in the top 10% of my high school class, my ACT score was above the 75th percentile for Dartmouth, and I chose not to submit my subject test scores.
@anonymous1423 they haven’t released the notification date yet. They’re supposed to email us with that information. A friend of mine who is applying to Cornell ED just got their release date today, so I’d assume ours should be out any day now.
Cornell and Penn came out with their release dates today…hopefully Dartmouth follows. Both of those schools had an increase in early applicants. Cornell was up 15% from last year. Yikes!
For the past two years, the ED decisions have been released at 4 pm on a Wednesday. I’d expect for this year’s applicants to hear back Wednesday the 13th at the earliest and Friday the 15th at the latest.
Wasn’t there talk of increasing the class size though this year? So it might not be such a big adjustment as to how many people are accepted? @yellowgreenred@BoringLL
@reinian18 I did hear about that. What makes me nervous is the percentage of recruited athletes and other guaranteed admission applicants applying during the ED round that significantly decrease the acceptance rate for non hooked applicants in this round
Hey guys. New to this thread, mostly cause I’ve tried to avoid checking college confidential since applying. @vanillagurlll brings up a good point. Which of y’all have sent in Q1 grades?
@reinian18 hm, I’m pretty sure no final decision was made in regards to expanding the undergraduate enrollment yet. Plus, with the 21s being the biggest class ever (1215), they already are tight on space.
