Zomg, philo, no Hahvahd?

If all else fails for me, I’m going to Cornell.

Zomg, philo, no Hahvahd?

If all else fails for me, I’m going to Cornell.

@stupiddorkyidiot: A 700 word letter, two extra essays, and three stressful phone calls later, I received an ultimatum saying, “You need to change what you’re applying for. To do that, you have to move to RD pool. You can either defer yourself or we’ll defer you.” (Basically, what Penn wants, Penn gets. -.- )

I totally fought my parents on NOT applying to Harvard. Anyone else have do that?

Wait… what?! How did that come about?

I totally fought my dad (a Harvard grad) on even visiting the place. I wanted nothing to do with it. (Then, of course, I visited and fell in love with the campus, but whatever. I still think I wouldn’t be happy there.)

Awk when H is my dream school.

@alexis, to each her own!

Don’t get me wrong - if I’m accepted to Harvard, there’s a 95% chance I’m going to Harvard. But I think Brown is more my vibe.

I seeee. Yes, Brown is so chill. Starting to like Princeton more as well…

Princeton’s the best!! :D

But as I won’t be getting in there, I just hope I get one acceptance from the Ivies/Northwestern.

Also, Dartmouth’s Common Data Set says 65.6% of all undergraduates are part of a sorority/fraternity. On the bright side - there are 34.4% of students on campus who get by just fine. On the negative side - It is by far the largest percentage of frat/sorority students I’ve seen(among Cornell, NU, UPenn, etc) and 34.4% is still a minority.

I though won’t be thinking twice, if Dartmouth does accept me!! :D

@Alexiss & @Sdorkyi
I also didn’t apply to Harvard, not my scene either. A lot of my friends think I am mad that I didn’t… but they also thought I’d easily be accepted at MIT… haha!

@Rishav
I agree!

I am hoping my sister helps me get into Princeton, but I don’t think it will carry much weight. I’d be very happy with any of the Ivys I have applied to, the frats/soros don’t bother me too much, not my ideal… but not a huge disadvantage.

rate the ivies as per your interest?

to me, Cornell, Columbia and UPenn are at the end. Yale leads, Pton follows, Brown and then Harvard. Dartmouth is in the middle! :P

Yale sucks up on academics, more or less, so i dont have much hopes from that school.
on the other hand, Pton DOES have a holistic approach, for real! so. lets see :)

even if i am rejected from ALL the ivies, i’ll have a not-so-bad college to attend already. so thats a pro :D

@rew - Did I tell you how LUCKY you are!! I DON’T know why you’re writing all those exams??
If I get all rejections from here on - I’ll mostly end up at a local no-good college!! :(

@Rew
Princeton, UPenn programs, Dartmouth, Cornell, UPenn, Yale, Harvard, Brown, Columbia…

Tiger or Green all the way :D

@rew:
Penn programs, Cornell, Columbia, Dartmouth, Yale and Princeton and Brown, then Harvard.

It’s probably with it to note that I’m definitely going to be an engineering major. That makes things a little different, no?

@thechor - Princeton 2nd last? Why??
It has a better engineering program than Yale, Dart & Columbia for sure. And this is not from the rankings but from a mech engg professor at UIUC!! :)

My list -
Princeton, Dartmouth, Cornell, UPenn, Columbia. (Didn’t apply to the rest)
Though after Dartmouth, the other 3 are all the same!! :D

For me:

Harvard (strong black community, perf aid, dream school, research opportunities)

Princeton (perfect CS program, lovely campus, excellent aid, least liberal)

Yale (nice dorms, excellent aid, beautiful)

Cornell (CS program not bad, good aid)

Brown (relaxed, open curric)

Columbia (nyc, good aid)

UPenn

Dartmouth

hmmm

Harvard

Princeton

Dartmouth

Brown

Columbia

Yale (they deferred me… grr…)

UPenn

Cornell

Harvard

Princeton

Cornell

Columbia

UPenn, Dartmouth, Brown, Yale:p

So many of you have Dartmouth as your last/ 2nd last choice!!??
Just hope they somehow realize my “LOVE” for Dartmouth and admit me!! Haha!! :p

If you’re wondering how they’d know? … My friend quite clearly mentioned my Dartmouth fantasies :D

@Rishav
So apart from Princeton… you are a major Dartmouth die hard! for me it feels like my second choice out of all my unis :P

interesting.
thank god now all of you have Harvard as choice 1.
however, if SAY HYPOTHETICALLY, i do get in ALL ivies (HA!), ill choose Yale/Harvard.
lol. mehness.
anyone here has a Dartmouth likely letter?

@Rew
I wouldn’t ever have Harvard at the top for a number of reasons… well not for undergraduate.
I actually put it higher up on my list than I’d want… but just because they have more to offer than some of the others I see no reason to apply to :P
