I’d be happy to be a part of anything to do with MUNs in college! And I actually like participating more than organizing/moderating!! :)

Hey. IF given a chance, Id try out for the Dartmouth Soccer team too ANd maybe Rowing :O

Also, has anyone read/heard/experienced anything about Dartmouth’s drinking tradition? :P

There was a big news about D’s hazing problem and drinking like two years ago I think. But it was related to fraternities and I don’t think it was representative of everybody at D.

@rishav
I do some MUN but mostly as a side thing
our school runs a decently sized MUN so I’m helping chair a committee for that
it might be fun to get more involved in uni but i would really like to focus on business/management stuff

The Rolling Stone article a year(ish) ago gave some insight into the fraternities, but the guy who “exposed” it seemed like a ____ and was addicted to cocaine I believe. I don’t think it was representative of D - just another shotty attempt at yellow journalism.

@ealdi94
Totally agree. Every school has a problem with drinking and whatnot ,but that doesn’t mean everybody drinks :)

Well - i didn’t know anything about the hazing stuff, until ^^.

And then I read a bit and found that there have been quite a few “allegations” of hazing at Dartmouth in the recent years(all related to frats) and that none of them were dealt with clarity by the D administration. So it does put a doubt into my mind!!
Anyway, I think not joining a frat rather than giving up on the opportunity to go to such a great school is the more sensible thing to do!!

Anyone else concur with me?? And anyone planning on joining a frat? If so, what’s the benefit except for the partying??

I’m an international student -so I dont know much on greek life!! :)

I’m not joining a frat.
Too much time commitment (depending on the frat) and I’m not a party-person haha
If there are philanthropy-focused frat though, I might be interested.

I don’t necessarily want to join a frat, but it seems to be a pivotal center of social life at Dartmouth, and the more I’ve looked into it, it looks like there are plenty of options for fraternities at Dartmouth - hardcore animal house-type ones, and more laid back houses with not as much of a commitment. So If I get in, and go to Dartmouth, I’ll probably join one of the lower key fraternities.

Hey anybody who sent peer evaluation via email get an acknowledgement?
I had my friend send in my evaluation via email and my Dartmouth web access site says that they received all my application material, but just wanted to double check!

^ Same doubt!! But I sent a mail about this long long ago, and they said they won’t be able to acknowledge it due to huge no. of applications!!

Excited to see who’s gonna get accepted! Join us!

@Aspirare
I think I’m speaking on behalf of all the posters on this thread when I say,
it would be an honor to join you!

Hey guys, did you all get information concerning your application status checking portal? I submitted my app on the 28th of December and still did not get any confirmation letter. I did not get anything from Dartmouth actually. What should I do?

^ I guess if your commonapp shows as downloaded by the college, then you should wait for another week perhaps - cause even though I received an email, my account hasn’t been updated yet - so they must still be arranging materials!!

If your app is not downloaded but submitted, then call them up ASAP.

I remember writing to them before the deadline, asking whether I will receive any confirmation when they receive my arts supplement and what I got was a reply which stated that until early feb - they will not attend to any tracking requests due to the large number of applicants!!

So even if you decide to contact them, I’d say call them!! :)

Haha. Well, Im not saying that there is a lot of drinking ONLY at D. Ofcourse, whichever college/uni you go to, there will definitely be lot of parties and drinking, thats for sure! It just depends on what your approach/view on drinking is.

I’m joining!

Wait.
Greek life is strong at D?
NoooOOoooo.
D:

Greek life is strong at Dartmouth, because the campus is so rural. Frats are basically the only way to party for the students I guess… I just hope that they also have many students who are not that much into frats and parties and stuff haha

Its too early to hope for anything! I for one, will start hoping about the campus and my peers once (and if) I have an acceptance in hand :p

^ guyinblue - well you are bound to have at least one acceptance and that school is bound to have greek life!! ( How do you get the smiley??? )

@alexisss - D’s greek life is quite strong!!

@Iboss1223 - If, by an awesome miracle, I get accepted - then rest assured that you’ll find a friend in me!! As much as I may like to party, I am mostly not going to be a part of a frat !!
Anyone know if you can still party by not joining a frat, cause after all parties need people don’t they?? :D
