Hi, I thought I would get this thread started in case anyone would like to talk about transferring to Dartmouth.
Hey! I applied here as well.
Wishing us the best of luck!
Weeeelll heelllo guys! Nice seeing you around these parts, been a while eh? :))
Hahahaha, good luck to all of us!
Lol, we all applied to the same schools so we’re all on this ride together. Hey @AGoodFloridian what major were you again?
@SmartJarhead Depending on the offerings of the university, mechanical engineering or applied physics.
It’s actually really great that we’ve applied to a lot of the same colleges, we can share the victories and, if needed, the defeats too. Have you turned in all required documents yet?
As a side note, Dartmouth has been super nice and understanding with my application this year, so kudos to them. I hope their incoming freshmen class isn’t overenrolled like the case of one of these previous years!
You guys make this whole application process so much more fun!
@IndirectProofs With this agonizing wait, we gotta make it as fun as possible!
@AGoodFloridian Nice, those are some tough subjects! Some of the college portals say they are missing stuff, but when I called they said not to worry and that many documents haven’t been processed yet. I’m gonna call again Wednesday to make sure everything’s okay. And honestly, I expect to get rejected from most if not all of the top schools I applied to, I just need that one acceptance and I’m set
@SmartJarhead Last year was a nightmare for me, I applied to roughly the same amount of colleges. I started the trip off by getting rejected at my top choice, then it just went downhill from there :)) Pretty much a rejection every week. A few shimmers of light with two waitlists, but those didn’t go too far.
I was silly to apply so early in my college career. I feel like things have certainly changed now, though. I’m excited for what’s to come!
@AGoodFloridian That’s brutal, I’m hoping I hear back from at least a few of my safties with some good news so I won’t be too stressed once the rejections start rolling out. And yeah I’m in my 3rd year of community college, couldn’t imagine how much harder it would have been if I tried a year ago.
I’m only expecting one rejection, that’s probably not a good thing, but as long as I get into one of them that isn’t my safety school then I’ll be happy. If not, then I am gonna be a depressed girl.
I probably shouldn’t have applied to a safety school if I don’t really want to go there.
@IndirectProofs I don’t blame you for not wanting to settle and end up disappointed with your experience. I’m sure you’ll get into one of the schools you applied to
@SmartJarhead thanks! I hope you are having a nice week so far. I am excited that March is almost over. April is where the action is!
One thing I love about Dartmouth is their flexibility on SAT testing. I have never taken an SAT or ACT, so this is valuable to me. I feel like colleges should understand that not everyone has a high school background.
Yeah, I’ve noticed some schools starting to shift away from SAT’s. I was reading a Forbes article about it, and they said that research shows SAT scores corrolate with income. Schools are now starting to make the tests optional so that good students whose parents couldn’t afford SAT prep and tutoring aren’t turned away.
I looked over Dartmouth’s last 6 common data sets to have some ground for “predictions” on how many students they’re likely to accept. No better place to speculate than here, right? :))
It seemed to hover in the mid-30’s, with occasional spikes to around 60 admitted transfer students. Last year broke all scales when they admitted only 4…
Four.
Transfer students. I’m crossing my fingers that they rise up to the 60 figure again after that huge dip! Freshmen class size plays a significant factor in our fates… An overenrolled freshmen class could cause the number of transfer spots to drop significantly
@AGoodFloridian Hey applying this year was just meant to be, we skipped the year they only took 4. I’m right there with you, hoping for 60.
@SmartJarhead that’s a good point. I’m glad I didn’t apply last year, yikes!
