Thought I'd get a thread going!
I wonder if Harvard and Princeton's reinstatement of early programs is going to have an influence on the number of people applying to Dartmouth... Dean Laskaris said that it probably wouldn't, but you never know :)

So how are you all feeling about your applications? :)

I submitted my app like 5 minutes before ED deadline :)

My counselor still hasn’t sent her forms though, she insisted on doing it on paper and even made me order an extra transcript even though I had already sent one off…she claims they give leniency to school officials for deadlines, though. I’m really hoping that’s true…

I recently sent my ED aplication in through the Common App. Then I noticed that there were questions about the Peer Evaluation on this post. “What is that,” I wondered. I followed the Commonn App only, so there was not mention of that. So then I was advised to got directly to the site,I found it and got a friend to do it super fast. I hope it does not afect anything in a negative way!

I just had my Dartmouth alumni interview. My interviewer was nice and easygoing.
She asked:
-Why Dartmouth?
-What are some of your favorite classes?
-What are your extracurricular activities?
-What other colleges are you applying to? (She was hesitant to ask this question, but she later told me that she wanted to know what the colleges had in common. I listed LACs.)
-Is there anything you couldn’t write on the application that you would like the admission office to know?

Has anyone got their application status updated? I kept logging in and they kept saying that “we cannot track the collection of indiv items at this time”

I’m not sure if my application status has been updated because I have yet to receive a pin/username. I received confirmation from Common App and Dartmouth that my app has been received, but still no pin.

Mine login page just says “we have received all application materials necessary to begin the reviewing process of your early decision application” and a bunch of other fluff. I really want them to update the info with my application materials received already!

@ BigUncleP - When did you submit your application, so that you already got an interview? Does anyone know what type of applicants are interviewed? Like, if you don’t get an interview is that basically it for you? Sorry for all the questions, just never really understood the interview process.

@ laddydah - Harvard and Princeton ended their early action programs for a while, and just opened them back up this year to give the option of applying early. OP is saying that this might decrease the amount of early applicants to other colleges since a lot of people will want to EA Harvard/Princeton. At least, that was my interpretation.

A lot of people may think the same as you and they apply to Dartmouth → that makes up for the number of applicants applying to Harvard/Princeton.

Again, its just my interpretation We never know. The best kids still get in, and all I can do now is to eat, pray and love dartmouth

have just seen a likely letter this year (ofc to athletes) in the Likely Letter Thread :(

No it is not the end. Keep in mind that some people live in areas where there are a lot of alumni residing while others may live in an area with very few alumni.

[quote] Does Dartmouth offer admissions interviews? Are interviews required?

After a student has applied for first-year admission, they may be offered an opportunity to interview with a member of Dartmouth’s alumni body who lives in their local community. Because interviews are coordinated by alumni volunteers, we are not able to offer interviews to all applicants. As a result interviews are not required for admission. Interviews are not offered to transfer applicants.

What if I don’t get contacted for an interview?

Don’t worry about it. Our wonderful volunteer alumni interviews do their very best to interview every candidate possible, but given the volume of applications, they are simply unable to interview every applicant. About only half of our applicants get interviewed.** If you are not contacted about an interview, all it means is that the alumni in your community could not get to you. That does not put you at a disadvantage in the admissions process.**

Sent in my early decision app about 3 days before the deadline. I am new here, and i just posted a chance type dealio on here…check it out for me and be frank!

Good luck to everyone here!! i really hope everyone gets in; I know how you all feel about Dartmouth…It is like paradise to me, too.

@sintralin: I submitted my Common App mid-October and was contacted by the alumna Oct. 31st. My interviewer said something about how she had until November 15th to write up my report…? You won’t be at a disadvantage if you’re not contacted for an interview. The only thing that might hurt you is if you reject an interview you’re offered.

Thanks for the info and link! I knew I had read something about it before but couldn’t find the exact site again. My debate coach is actually a Dartmouth alum, but I don’t think he’s volunteered to do any interviews. That would’ve been really funny though if I actually got him for an interview.

That November 15th deadline is weird, I guess that’s it for early decision applications then? Although I guess I’m a tiny bit relieved I don’t have to deal with the stress preparing for an interview (yeah I know, not supposed to be stressful but still more so than not having one at all).
