Dartmouth Early Decision Class of 2021

@dartagnaneb true, but there’s “not great” and then there’s “what was I thinking?” Still, no regrets and stranger things, etc etc

Not much I could tell @dartagnaneb there was a lot of general questions, minor explanation of the process, specific situational questions, and other filler. Though they mentioned that the FA deadlines are pretty lax.

@dartagnaneb I am a parent who urged a safer route, but this one can’t be my call!

What are some backup colleges you guys have/plan on applying to ?

@buffalo11 I don’t think it is weird at all. So many variables go into these things,

@buffalo11 Good luck! I think it is a good sign!

Im curious if deliberation happens on Friday or if they internally decide on Friday. Does anyone know, is it our regional officer that makes the sole decision and this Fridays deliberation is simply a Peer Review of sorts or do they all come together to make final decisions?

@BGMuleri Applied EA and accepted to UGA

Is it just me or is the week in which ED notifications are given out also finals week?

@poipr123 all my classes are year round so there aren’t traditional finals that week, but I do have a lot of tests and essays due.

The 14th can’t come soon enough!

@heavenlyzheng So does that mean the dean of admissions reads the applications first by this friday and then he presents to everyone else?

@kairos123 – the dean doesn’t present folders. Associate officers bring forth their final pile and one-by-one, the cases are presented then the committee chimes in. It’s in committee where final admit and defer decisions are made for ED. (I’m simply assuming that likely rejects don’t make it to the final pile – but I suppose some folder can be presented where the majority of committee members feel the person warrants rejection: oops! embarrassing!)

If you’re curious as to what it’s like, here’s an audio report about Amherst committee deliberations:

@T26E4. This NPR article is making me dizzy.

@T26E4 Are you an aficionado of WWI military technology?

what are everyone’s backup schools?

@sarbull17 If Dartmouth doesn’t work out (sad thought) then i’ll be applying to Northwestern University, Lehigh University, and the University of Washington (My state school).

@sarbull17 University of Maryland, American University, George Washington University, and Salisbury are where I plan on applying for some safety.

@sarbull17 University of Georgia (already accepted) and Sewanee (University of the South) are my safety schools

I’ll probably cry a river if I get a deny from Dartmouth …
