Dartmouth ED alumni interviews?

Anybody been contacted for an interview yet? Better- anybody not been contacted for an interview yet?

I haven't - and my application's been in for a few months, so that couldn't be the reason. I did at least have an on-campus interview, but I'd still like to do an alumni one. We're pretty rural so maybe location might be the reason.

And I certainly know interviews are "optional" and that not having one would not have a negative impact on your application, but a great one could always help.

i havnt been asked.but i think they tend to give alumni interviews to people who havnt had on campus interviews

i haven't been contacted yet!!!! finally got MIT one tho..

I haven't been contacted either.

i havent been either

i haven't been, but I had an on-campus one

grr.. wish I could get an interview soon... I really want to be there.. It was my ED college...

i haven't been contacted either. but i sent my app in a few weeks ago. i wish i could get one cuz it would definately help me. apparently my real personality doesn't come out on paper nearly as well as it does in person. i'm regretting not interviewing when i visited campus, but they needed 3 weeks notice and the trip was last minute. o well, what can u do?

nope nothing here. but that is probably because they are doing the EDers first.

does anyone know someone living in their area that had a dartmouth alumni interview last year?

son applied ED last year, and, if I recall, wasn't contacted until the mid-November, so hang in there -- it takes awhile for the mail to arrive in Hanover, open, and sort apps by region-state-city.

hope so!!! I had met a professor to make sure for the college... to make sure it really matched me... and really liked it... and then applied for ED... I mentioned that in a recent mail too... It sure takes a lot of time.. my app isn't still complete at Hanover...
I so wish I get Dartmouth

now listen to me all you nervous applicants
THE ALUMNI INTERVIEW MEANS ALMOST NOTHING!!
i am a parent of an ed 08 who was given an intrview by an
absent minded local alum who called the day before thanksgiving and
begged my son to meet him that night, cause of travel plans.
they met outside a closed dunkin donuts...so naturally we were concerned..
upon hearing from several sources including the regional admission officer
who said
ALUMNI INTERVIEW IS WAY DOWN THE LIST ,,NEXT TO LAST OR LAST THING LOOKED AT ..WHY? CAUSE 99% GET A GLOWING REPORT..u would
have to do something really bad at the interview to get a negative report
AND most schools do NOt have the time or numbers of alum signing up to interview and why in the past, schools like yale were overwhelmed with applicants and parents who didnt get in, blaming the weak link in the application process on the lacking or late alum interview..

order of importance..

gpa..rank...sats. .strength of courses(ap etc)..essay.. teacher recs..guidance rec .......then peer rec and alumni rec are perhaps tied for last spots

now does alum interv serve a purpose ..only if you are still needing convincing it was a great place to go to school..you can ask about his/her greek life..their major
..do they miss it...but im sure most of you by now, especially the EDers. do not need anymore convincing..
so dont worry if you dont get an interview in time...EDers YOUve done your
job for Dartmouth ...relax.. but do get your backups ready to be mailed

good luck

and by the way Dartmouth is worth all your efforts!!

lol, thanks isaac. that was an enlightening post. i think there is nothing left to do, but relax and wait it out.

I never had any interview, and was never contacted for one last year. I got accepted and I am here now. Don't worry about it even if you dont get contacted...it really does mean nothing

ohh... thanks bulldog.. and isaac.. where do my ECs come?
I'm on top 10% of my class with GPA 3.4 or sth(unweighted probably as my school doesn't do such stuffs and I'm from Nepal) but I have really really strong ECs... showing my interests quite nicely...

with ec naturally their will be some distinct people
but for most it is the obligatory class officer...or president
of fbla or spanish club..now these arent trivial but it is
almost a given to have one major leadership role...

so with your gpa it would be almost a no...but you hopefully have that
unusual hsitory or ec up your sleeve that would stand out...

so of course for 95 percent of applicants they need

say 3.8/4.2 weighted 700 plus on all 5 sat tests, to be in the running

unless your athlete, musician, legacy, or urm......these may be in a different pool of applicants

I have been class rep. almost all my school years...
leader almost all teams like in Quizzes, won spelling contests...
First in school science fair for "Aerodynamics" project
won essay competitions... school and national levels.. even science foundation ones...
President computer Council
Coordinator yearbook and newsletter
Designer for both magazines...
done programming, 3ds max.... designing.. video editing
Currently working for Free/Open Source softwares...
.... and more (yeah)
I'm currently involved with web development and open course wares... how's that for a kid from Nepal?
how are these, isaac?

I have sent samples of the works I have done as CDs for review... verified and attested CV....

wat info does the college give the alum interviewer about me.... like do they share my grades, SATS, ECs with him ...... ?

I think they send whatever they have...
