Dartmouth ED Class of 2020

Everyone on here seems to be talking about how they’re afraid they’ll be rejected. I’m the opposite, like I can already see my acceptance letter when I close my eyes, lol.

Let’s ensure that Dartmouth’s reputation is one of humility.

What are everyone’s second choice schools?

I got int with a 2140 and my roommate got in with a 33. Your scores are fine. What I recommend is take a break from CC and stop stressing out. You’ll end up at the school that’s right for you. Good luck

@cncincolor I’m between vanderbilt and northwestern for my second choice and unc chapel hill and nc state are my safeties (I’m from north carolina)

Hi everyone : ) I just read this thread and you all seem like very nice people- I hope I’ll be in school with all of you next year!
the waiting is terrible!! the possibility of being deferred/rejected is eating away at me! can’t wait until the 11th (?)

Have a strong feeling that decisions will be released on the 12th. Don’t ask why

I’m guessing 11th. I doubt they would release results on a Saturday.

My second choice is Williams, but I haven’t applied to it yet, because I couldn’t apply Early Decision to two schools. Dartmouth is the only school I’ve applied to so far, but I have all my applications ready for my other schools in case I don’t get in. I also like Boston College, Boston University and Amherst. Also I am considering a few other Ivies… But I’m hoping I get accepted and I won’t have to apply to these schools! Fingers crossed for me and for all of you! Can’t wait to hear back

Results are only half a month away!! [-O< I hope I get in but won’t be surprised if I don’t. Good luck to all the other ED candidates!

I hear they send out an email saying what date decisions will be released. Does anyone know how far in advance they do that?

I’m actually surprised that they’re able to release decisions so soon. SAT scores can take up to a week to make their way to the admissions office…and considering November scores just came out on the 24th, there are probably still some people who don’t have all of their materials in. Those adcoms must flip through our apps reallllllly fast to get the decisions out within the next two weeks.

I feel as if SAT/ACT Scores are designed to give them a general idea of our academic potential, that they are not necessarily “pass/fail” but something very similar (meaning that a 2200 won’t be distinguished from a 2300). I feel like their holistic admissions review compels them to assess our writing, letters of rec, and class choice with much more care than they do our standardized tests. I could be completely off base (disclaimer - I’m not a member of the adcom, lol), but from what I’ve heard, they do try their best to see past numbers and really look at the individual.

@cncincolor I have no idea what my second choice is…!! if I had to say it’s probably between unc chapel hill, UCLA, and berkeley (all of which I’ve applied to)… my safety is UT austin but I really don’t want to stay in state

Apparently calls to Harvard have confirmed that decisions are expected to be released on December 10th at 5:00 pm. Any news for Dartmouth?

why not Duke then?

@cncincolor why not Duke then?

I’ve been trying to start my RD schools but I can’t seem to start with them since am pretty optimistic. However,if I get rejected am locking myself in my room, start my RD schools and totally skip christmass

Reading through last year’s thread, people got the email on the 8th. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/dartmouth-college/1668588-dartmouth-class-of-2019-early-decision-p15.html
