Dartmouth ED Class of 2020

hahah well I had all A’s up until this six weeks. I currently have a 79 in AP Bio because I didn’t study for our most recent test that was over like 9 chapters. and econ has killed me this grading period… i’ve failed my last 2 quizzes and my teacher doesn’t offer extra credit or let us do corrections :-S and I could raise up my grade in bio but I have no motivation. everything sorta went downhill after I finished my dartmouth app

Everything is just crazy! Never-ending. I REALLY feel like throwing my hands up and putting on comfy clothes and watching “Elf”

Don’t you guys find it funny that we’re stressing so much –and as a result doing worse in school– over being admitted into a college that will throw work at us in magnitudes we can’t even imagine? Ironic, really :’)

It’s a bit ironic but I guess it’s only natural to stress over something this big.

Have any of you guys read “Green…words to live by, words to drink by, word to succeed by…the unofficial student guide to Dartmouth college”? I bought it like over summer, it’s addresses the social life aspect of Dartmouth. Really informative, written by alumni.

Hey guys I have a sorta irrelevant question but in preparation for my potential rejection I want to apply EDII to vandy (Jan 1 deadline). However the deadline for merit scholarship applications is dec 15 so could I possibly apply RD there and then if I don’t get into Dartmouth somehow contact them and change my application to early decision?

@strust98, I actually don’t think we’ll be overwhelmed with work at Dartmouth - we’ll be stimulated by challenging assignments and be given the freedom to craft our education through independent research, etc., but the actual amount of work shouldn’t be excessive. I also think that as we’ll be studying what we love most, whatever workload we have will appear even smaller, more like play than work.

@clairecm98, I’m not sure, but I think you should contact Vanderbilt and ask for an extension on your Merit Scholarship Apps (explain the situation).

@Clairecm98 I would almost guarantee you can switch from RD to EDII after the deadline. It’s essentially the same applicant pool (in terms of time constraints for admissions folks); you’ll just have a substantial brownie point for being ED. I don’t think this would be an inconvenience to the admissions people at vandy, so I can’t imagine why they wouldn’t let you switch.

Hello everyone, I have decided not to open College Confidential again until I decisions come out. It’s unproductive at this point and I’d rather await my fate in peace, lol. I will definitely come back here and post my stats in the results thread when and if I get into Dartmouth.
Hope to see you all next year!

haha farewell @gearsstudio. I like the distraction from hw to be honest

@clairecm98 I am finishing my Vanderbilt RD application right now! Hopefully it’ll be submitted in the next 30 minutes :slight_smile:

so for my UC application I had to cut a lot from my essays to meet the combined 1000 word requirement and I somehow managed to overlook missing apostrophes in each one of my personal statements… my friend who edited the essays with me didn’t catch the mistakes even after I pointed out there was one !! hopefully the admissions officers will be reading too fast to notice…

I am so upset!!

Don’t worry, haha. Earlier (I think it might’ve been on this thread?) I told y’all how I’d made a goof of myself on my Dartmouth Supplement by forgetting to delete a word that makes the sentence incoherent. It’ll be fine.

Currently a freshman at Dartmouth. Have it on a good source that it will be coming out on the 15th.

What’s your source?

Coach has been alerted about when recruits will receive admission

That’s awesome thanks!!

@jmartin1997 Much appreciation!

@jmartin1997, thanks for the heads-up!

It’s too bad that decisions are going to be a bit later this year, but I feel less stressed now that we at least know what day it will come out on.

@jmartin1997 yay!!! thanks a ton!!
