Dartmouth ED Results to be posted Dec. 8!!!

The decision is posted online first...so does it really matter?

Nice way to end the discussion, Mishy :).

Columbia's decisions are also being posted (actually, emailed out) on the 8th. On behalf of the Columbia section, we all wish you good luck!!

well mishy, some of us might get home at 2:30 everyday and mail takes one day to get to my house from hanover...that means the letter will arive first for me....so thin envelopes for acceptance and rejections right?

enzo--i didn't mean to be obnoxious, i just didn't want people to antagonize over something they can't do much about! (like what if Dartmouth decided to send out big letters this year for acceptances, and someone with a small envelope gets their hopes up?) we'll only know for sure when we open it, so no need to make ourselves more nervous.

so i hope you get a big envelope! or a small one...or whatever acceptances come in these days :-p

no worries. i know its going to be a small, thin envelope anyways

HI all

I applied to Dartmouth for the class of 2009 but was waitlisted, and didn't get in, and didn't have a safety. Stupid me. They posted the regular decision online last year on or before 12:00, noon, April 1st, even though they had said 3:00 pm. I checked at 12:00, out of jitters, and was surprised that it was there, but it was. And yes, I can confirm that rejection letters are small and thin :) .

You know what would be incredibly mean? If Dartmouth started putting multiple copies of the rejection letter in the envelopes they sent out. I'd go out to the mailbox, all jittery and nervous, and, lets face it, I'd be sweatin' like a BEAST, and then I'd see the thick envelope and start seeing light at the end of the tunnel. The angels would trumpet, and my school chorus would be singing, HALLELUJAH! behind me, and God would shine his little flashlight on me from above.

Then I'd open the letter, and read on the first page: You're a loser. Second page, You're a really big loser. Third page: Dude, you're still a loser....

I have vowed to photocopy my rejection letter and pass it out at school as a flier, give copies to all the people who keep telling me that I'll get in (funny that I'll be the one laughing at them...). If Dartmouth sends me multiple copies, then hey, makes my life easier.

we are such an optimistic bunch.

czechhoslovakia--you shouldn't have told me that the decision was posted early. now i'll be checking all day!

The acceptance letters last year came in big thin envelopes. The letter is not folded. Also, it came the day before it was to be posted online.

I'm seriously going to throw up thinking about it. I have 4 weeks of my online econ class to catch up on, and it just doesn't seem like its going to be touched before December 8th (or after, pending a rejection).

I officially can't sleep any more.

Is anyone in California skipping lunch to check online in the library at noon? My school's lunch starts at 12:03. I'm forgoing my usual Togo's and heading straight to the library, unless my 4th period class happens to be in a computer lab.

I'm in Washington, but I'm definitely checking it at noon. Although now I just might check it all day after hearing that it was released earlier last year...

I live in Cali, and I have options and I want YOU guys to tell me what to do.

1) Check in the middle of class during a computer lab. Keep in mind I haven't told anyone where I'm applying so people would see me go to dartmouth.edu and know. I would possibly get rejected and have to finish school in tears BUT I would find out when other people are finding out!

2) Have a heart attack waiting until 2 to find out. Drive home at 203720597 mph and check online.

I can't eat, I can't sleep, and can't THINK about anything else but Dartmouth.

Wait and check when you get home, so that way if there's negative news, you have fifteen or so hours to process it before going to school the next day.

Good luck you guys! Hope to see you on campus next fall (since I'm definitely staying on that term - sorority rush, lol)

I'm definitely checking only after I get home, which is 2:15, so it's really a non-issure anyway. But I have an orchestra concert that night, so I won't really be able to avoid people...

i just realized that I can leave school this thursday at 1:15, meaning i will be home at 1:40, meaning i will lock myself in my room and refuse to go out and see anyone at 1:41.

there is no way i will be able to wait until school is actually over, even though i know that is the SMART thing to do.
