I think you are right rishav. As a first gen American, son would be considered a domestic applicant (not international).

It is possible they were simply looking for economic, geographic, racial or ethnic diversity etc and picked him. He is certainly no academic star, although he has overcome obstacles.

All the Best Rishav:D Oh and I didn’t apply cause it would be a waste of 80$ since I wont be going even if they ****** me (That is not a bad word…just one that wont happen:))

@Sunny - why not just ask your counselor to upload it via his/her account??
Mailed(postal) copy is fine I think, but just write them an email clarifying it anyway! They’ll reply within a day!! :)

@quiver - I really don’t know why you hate Columbia & other Ivies(except D ) !! :p

@perazziman - Ohh then yeah, the theory is probably right - no Intn’ls got the mail!! I guess your S has a good SAT score which would’ve gotten him onto their list cause I don’t think they’d know of his obstacles or ethnical diversity without him applying!!

You are right, they could not know about the specific obstacles. However, I believe colleges can get names of national Merit semifinalists and their profiles, including GPA, name of high school attended, ethnicty and race data etc.

@rishav
I told him to upload it, but Colby-Sawyer College just contacted me today that my counselor didn’t even upload my other transcripts.
He just provided them a small grid with my subjects and my grades (and only the “end” grades from the year 2011/2012 but even wrote down the wrong year) . So, I think I prefer to send a certified copy. It will be the safer option :D

@Rishav
I didn’t get many emails from Penn, a couple from MIT - but more like a newsletter than anything really
G** I can’t wait for the decisions to come out!! I just hope it will be a very happy time for me xP

@All the Indians
Come on guys! Get ready for your boards I’m sure you’ll all do brilliantly, but come on and get 100% xP

@Sunny
I hope you and your counsellor can organise your reports… best of luck :)

Sorry I haven’t been very active guys… almost time for another update - though we haven’t had many new people since the last one :/

I am sooo excited…so many huge decisions of my life in such a short span of time…You wont even realize what hit you…by April that is .(Except IIT by june):)

@Raith
Thanks :), but I think he is overextended with this stuff. He has never filled out recommendations and this kind of forms. I think he didn’t even know what exactly he had to do. However, he is really nice but always busy. So, I will just send them the reports via mail. :)

@Sunny - Ohh, that’s bad!! Anyway, I’d still get all my transcripts, go to the guy, sit there and make him do it right in front of me on the comp!! :p

But if you’ve decided to send it by mail - make sure it’s addressed "From “your counselor” on behalf of “you” " !! :)

@Raith - The emails were Penn were also kind of newsletters - explore pg217 blog, about their new website, deadlines, etc!! None from MIT though!! Haha!!
And did CC just censor the word “God” ?? Haha!!

@Perraziman - yeah NMF/NMSF is another source colleges use for applicant info!! :)
