Thanks @hopingforbetter :D

Btw, I guess I didn’t get any VIP apps because I was supposed to apply last year…I do remember getting a lot of emails last year from various “safeties”.

With the ISC being my primary concern at present, I do hope things work out for the best without my interference :P

This question goes out to the other Indians here … what kind of college would you term a “safety” …? Any approximate acceptance rates?

more than 25-30%?

That would make Colby, Bryn Mawr, Smith and Mount Holyoke my safeties. Four are enough? :S

Well the SATs and grades too play a role in choosing safeties. We also must look at the international acceptance rate.

Actually yes four safeties are enough but I don’t think Colby can be a safety. It’s difficult for internationals to get in, particularly with financial aid.

EDIT: Colby is more like a match school if you have decent SATs and grades.

I don’t really know Rishav…When I started my UCB app. It said UCB VIP app. on the top…thats how I came to know :D

@hopingforbetter - Ohh, both don’t suit my interest!! :p

@quiver - Ohh!! Weird!! :D

@Keya - What do you mean by
???

And I don’t think safeties have much to do with the acceptance rates!! UIUC has a HIGH acceptance rate - but it isn’t a safety!!
It’s more about the mid 50 SAT/ACT percentile, GPA, Class rank & general level of applicants and how you compare with them!! :)

I have my Princeton Interview on Thursday!! Hours before English exam!! :p

@hopingforbetter: oh man! I had no idea…at various stages of my college search I’ve been told that I picked the wrong colleges Anyway I guess that luck may be the most significant factor here, we can’t really afford to worry!

@rishav: ummm yeah so I’m 19 already…I should have graduated last year but I was ill through a significant portion of class 12, so I’m applying this year instead
Oh and FINALLY, your Princeton interview ! Good luck! Aren’t they supposed to be over by February though?

@keya - Ohh, hard luck!!
What’s your list of colleges and what are your basic stats(SAT,GPA/Marks)?

No, actually interviewers are supposed to turn in the reports by March 1st, as I was informed by the alumni interview office when I contacted them!! My interviewer finally woke up and told me to meet him on Tuesday(Math Exam!!!) but then I rescheduled to Thursday!! :)

I know nothing about IISER except some basic details and IIST is not for me too.

Good luck dude! I guess it will be on phone, right?

Happened to me too. And you are right. Luck is an extremely important factor.

Is it a face-to-face interview??

@hopingforbetter- Yep, in his office!!
It’s probably for his convenience( but may be intimidating for me!! Haha )

I believe that when youre an Indian asking for aid, there are NO safeties. Seriously.

But well thats just me :O

^^right right right-O.

@rishav17 I have a common question faced by most students during P’ton interviews. Request me and I’ll tell you:p

He/she will first ask your list of colleges. Then he will pick one of the best in your list and ask “Why Princeton and why not XX?”

^This will happen if your try to convince him that P’ton is your top choice and you’ll die for an acceptance.

This thread has become a property of Indians!!:D

Raith is off. Sunny too. Only Indians playing all around. Interestingly, only Indians have important exams now:p

Haha yes. No one seems to care about boards really :p

Yeah, pretty sad this - the de-Internationalization of this thread!! :/

No one seems to be bothered with it!! :(
