On the topic of getting to know admission officers: I’ve emailed the head of admissions for Dartmouth a few times… ‘accidentally’, just getting my name out there. Also, been in two brief conversations with two Harvard admission officers. We’ll see if it pays dividends.

@Quiver/Raith - Does MIT have an online portal for decisions?? Or is it by email? Snail mail??

@PO - That is good. I only contacted my regional Northwestern admission officer. Didn’t have an interviewer in my area, so requested one. Then the admissions office gave me the admissions officer’s contact details.
Also, it may just be me fantasizing about getting into Northwestern
But whenever I mail them - I get an immediate response!
[Though recent research by me suggests that Northwestern’s office is the most prompt & friendly!! ]

On the other hand, Penn & Columbia seem to ignore me. Dartmouth & Pton are indifferent. Cornell haven’t been bothered by me!! :)

@Rishav
MIT uses their online portal for almost everything… I’d imagine that come D-Day, they will send us an email either telling us the decision or to go to the portal for the decision :P

I don’t get responses by P’ton too often… Dartmouth, Duke, CalTec and Stanford give me almost instant responses. Cornell I haven’t sent anything to. MIT gives decently times responses, but I haven’t emailed them much.

@Raith - Hmm…

So 8 days to MIT decisions & 22 days to Ivy Day!!

Time is passing by real quick!! Haha!!

I’m thinking we’ll reach 1750 posts by the time we’re done with everything!! Good number of posts eh?? :D

you guys are faster than a bullet train :p

@Rishav
I didn’t even know that MIT decisions were out in 8 days! I look forward to them! Even though I actually doubt I’ll be accepted… Good luck to the rest of you here applying and going for MIT! :D

I think 1750 is very possible… and a very good number :)

@Blue
Thinking about bullet trains… shot for your list: TGV (the french bullet train) - the TGV in this case also stands for Tequila, Gin and vodka! you take it with a slice of orange :P

@Raith - Haha!! I’m didn’t even apply to MIT, yet I’m excited!! Haha!! :D

1750 it is. :)

Haha!! TGV! We don’t have someone from france among us, do we??

@Rishav
We actually have had a French person come on, but I think only once or twice… definitely not a regular or half regular :P

You are excited for us? haha thanks? :P

Lets see if we can maybe hit 2000 :D

Heyy… are you guys in regular contact with your unis???

quiver is right only EA get the tubes. Sorry Raith to disappoint you :D

“EA admitted students (just EA, sorry RA, more incentive to apply early) get a tube in the mail that congratulates them on their acceptance.”

Good luck to all of you who want to go to MIT and tell us if you get accepted! :)

@Lemming
I’m not in regular contact, what is the point of pestering them with questions or conversation when they are trying to make decisions? I also have nothing to say or ask unless I think I have a problem at some stage. . .

@Sunny
Well that is very disappointing :’( I really wanted a tube if I was to be accepted : / and thanks really hoping to be accepted (one of my top 3)

@Raith
I think you will get in one of your top universities!
And honestly sure this tube would be really amazing but I wouldn’t even care if they just send me an email with the subject line “Accepted!” They don’t even have to write something in the email :D

I’d need someone to stop me from doing something crazy…If i got one of those mails…:D

@Raith - I don’t remember having a french poster.

I’m excited for quite a few reasons!!
One - it marks the beginning of the countdown to decisions by all top universities.
Two - you guys are so gonna be accepted!!
Three - I have a bet riding on an MIT acceptance. If I win, free lunch for a week - at a hangout place or a one time treat at a high-end restaurant awaits me!! :D

@lemming - My interaction with the universities has been restricted to queries regarding application processing and also an update that I sent in. Other than that - the odd interview request & a What’s this? What’s that?? to the admissions office!! You don’t want to **** them off, but you don’t want to seem like you don’t care!! :)

@quiver - Getting an MIT acceptance itself is crazy!! :p

Thanks guys, really hope we all get accepted to our top universities! (And that all of you applying for aid receive it!)

@Sunny
I just really think that getting the tube would be really awesome! Much more interesting than a normal letter :P

@Rishav
Ya we did, I think their user name was something like “Frenchissima”

Haha I like your bet :P

Wooo. The MIT results will mark the beginning of ‘decisions time’. Although Ive given up any hope of being accepted at any Ivy whatsoever, I am still so excited for you people.

Also, the ones that are awaiting MIT? Losing sleep? :p

@Raith - Lollllll. Reading your post makes me feel like having a drink. But its 10 in the morning -.-

Losing sleep…nah.
Although Im a bit curious…what are the words that come to your mind when you think about your top university??(The DREAM)
For me is::
a)hopeless
b)awesome
c)OMG(though its not a single word)

and then my mind draws to a blank:P

@Rishav Haha getting accepted would be winning the bet already!

@kdengg - You misunderstood. I didn’t apply!!
The bet’s been placed on the acceptance/rejection of a friend of mine!! :D

@quiver - Whenever I think of my top university, I grow to a chain of emotions -
1)I LOVE IT
2)I’M SO HOPELESS.
3)I’LL GET REJECTED.
4)I’M DEPRESSED.

@guyinblue - I’m with you on the 99.99% probability of an all Ivy rejection!! Haha!! :D
