Dartmouth Interview

A) Are Dartmouth Intericew selective?
B) Does not getting one mean there’s no chance of getting in?
C) How does the Dartmouth interview process even work?

A) Nope, they try to interview everyone.
B) No, it just means there’s no alumni available to interview you in your area. Quote from Dartmouth admissions: “Not having an interview will not put you at a disadvantage in the admissions process. However, if you are offered an interview, it can help you learn something new about Dartmouth and allow you to add a little more of your own voice to your application.”
C) I believe it is organized by your region. The Admissions Office does not take requests for interviews. They forward your contact information to the alumni interviewers, who are volunteers. Then a Dartmouth grad emails you to set up the interview.

If you did not receive an interview, don’t worry!

As @janeaustenlover pointed out, interviews are not that important. The are “considered”, which is ranked below “very important” and “important” on the Common Data Set grid - page 7 http://www.dartmouth.edu/~oir/pdfs/cds_2015-2016.pdf.

Northwestern is not Dartmouth, but it IS Highly Selective, and has a similar approach to interviews. I have 2 kids that went to NU, one admitted ED and one RD, and neither one interviewed. Good Luck!

In reality, how much do they look at the interview (if anyone knows)? I am not just talking about “considered, important, very important”.

My interviewer said I was a great kid and a great fit for Dartmouth, but how much does that play into the admissions process?
