Do all Dartmouth acceptees get a likely letter? When should applicants expect (hope for) them?

^It’s Yale-specific, but I imagine the core message holds true for most selective schools: Very, very few people get likely letters, and they’re usually athletes.

Actually that is not true for Dartmouth. I think appx. 500 people got it last year. The letters are sent out in three waves based on, I assume, the date applied. You should search for a thread in the Dartmouth forum about its likely. From what I recall, they use a numbering ranking system from 1-9, and only 8s and 9s get letters.

I stand corrected: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/dartmouth-college/639710-likely-letters.html?highlight=letters.

Apparently 1/4 RD applicants will get one, girls at a higher rate.
