Friend's D got rejected with 2340 SAT, 35 ACT, 3.9 gpa, decent EC's. Not even deferred.

Damn... we tend to get a few of those each year, but it's still shocking nonetheless!

Also, one thing I've noticed is that there are no high-stat people who have gotten in yet. Everybody with 2300+ has been rejected/deferred so far!

Also, Modadunn, I am really sorry to hear about your son. I was personally shocked. I thought he had a good chance. Anyways, I hope you S enjoyed the special dinner you planned.

Dartmoose: Dinner will wait until tomorrow. He wanted to go to the gym and then a friend of his -- who LOVES Christmas -- was taking him to some favorite childhood place of hers and apparently made them get their picture taken with Santa.

I am really dissapointed. I thought my Recs were SUPERB, esp the PEER REC.
alumni interview= great
essays= weren't too shabby
i thought i had the perfect package. : /
what happened?

xcheer
sorry you didnt make it, you are qualified, it was just bad luck.
but it may also be because of low sat/act scores and maybe the person who read your essays did not like them. its sad, but it happens.

Well no one knows for sure right? I think that SAT's are pretty important, though on a purely superficial glance it may seem like they look at EC's (leadership) and essays more. But I'm sure there's a general cutoff for SAT's...like at least a 2200 for non-athletes and non-URMs.

To quell your fears, that's just not true. I got in this year with a 2100 SAT and am neither an athlete or URM. I really don't think there is a cutoff for Dartmouth or for any of its peer institutions.

My friend got in via ED
She's also a recruited track athlete (pole vaulter, and they were in strong need of one)
SATs: 1960
Didn't send in SAT IIs
No leadership positions
Salutatorian
AP History: 2 AP Language: 3

Yeah...I guess being a recruited athlete helps

Emergency!- please answer!!!!
I sent my scores to Dartmouth but the collegeboard website says it is pending right now - I thought I rush reported, but am not sure - Am i dead? because i'm soo about to freak!!!!!

And collegeboard is closed for the weekend and so is Dartmouth!!!!! - they dont have my scores :(
