I have a pretty low SAT score for Dartmouth's standards, however, I'm wondering how holistic they look at applications. I have a great GPA, and I have taken 16 AP/IB courses, all in math, English, 2 foreign languages (1 being a semantic language), science, and social studies. Please note, that I am a very unique applicant with distinct passion and clear interest.

I'm 2/400 and I also have an outstanding common app essay, and great/unique extra-curricular activites, yet I'm not sure I want to waste the application fee, if my SAT will automatically keep me out. I have an SAT of a bit above 2000 when superscored. Please let me know!

It can’t hurt you to apply - I don’t know if you intended on applying ED and I am just reading this… but if you are applying RD, I always say that anyone can “play the lottery, just don’t plan your future on winning the lottery.” Yes, your test scores are an outlier for the typical Dartmouth applicant and an outlier based on your other achievements, but maybe you will get lucky the day that your app is read.

Hello! I go to Dartmouth. They definitely look at applicants holistically here—if they didn’t I probably wouldn’t be here right now! I say apply early----but let them know that you are going to take the SAT again and send in the scores later. I know some people did this----they were deferred and then eventually accepted regular decision. I think applying early though, showed that they were SUPER interested in attending Dartmouth.
