We are from a fairly rural, Midwestern community. No private test tutor or application guidance either. No help from the school counselor with applications. The vast majority of students in our area stay within-in state. So there is very little awareness of what it takes to “leave” our area. Good luck to your son and regardless of the outcome today, he’s lucky to have your support.
No guidance, test tutors, or SAT prep, etc. Our son does have friends that took SAT prep courses, and had professional guidance in the college app process. I don’t know that anyone was prepared for this year’s app cycle, though.
"The entire school community is expecting him to go somewhere “BIG”…I’d remind him (and you) that where he goes is not nearly as important as the BIG things he can do ahead of him. FIT matters and more often than not going to a place you already evaluated with those “good decisions” you made - produces WAY better results than simply trying to go somewhere that fits everyone else’s opinion of where you belong. Good luck!!!
I feel you a lot. I know it’s not about where I go to school or what people think about me. But throughout the application process, I’ve always heard people saying “you have the best resume of the class” or “I know you will get accepted to any school you apply to”. 5 decision letters in, and I still haven’t gotten that acceptance, and it feels weird to be at the exact opposite place of what people expected.
If he doesn’t get in, just lie and say he did but decided it wasn’t the right fit for him the more you looked into it. Ha!
I would just like to say how much I appreciate how much quieter it is on this forum than on a few of the other Ivy forums right now.
Yeah I was going to say the same thing
yeah fax Cornell’s fourm has been busting all week but Darty and Princeton have been quiet as heck
brown has been very quiet
brown’s more active today compared to darty and princeton cause of the mystical vanishing of the withdrawal button

They posted a video of the Dean signing acceptance letter. But it’s impossible to see the names in the letters hahaha
I was reading it. I saw
"Dear Mr. JDR2003,
Congratulations."
Sorry I couldn’t read the rest but I guess that’s a somewhat good sign…
Well Mr. JDR2003 is in for some very good news today, lucky him
