Dartmouth Recommendations

Hi everyone. I was just curious how much Dartmouth weighs recommendations in your application?
Obviously they are important, but are they so important that they can make up for other areas you may be lacking in your application (ex: weak test scores)?

Hi there, I’m applying this year as well. I’m not exactly sure how heavily weighted recommendations are, but being completely honest I think that unless yours are pretty stellar they won’t be a ton of help. I mean, chances are most people applying to Dartmouth already preform incredibly well at school, and their letters of recommendation reflect that. But then again, I could also be completely wrong. (I have low test schools too by the way, so at least you’re not alone on that one.)

I think that the peer recommendation is actually quite important, or else why would Dartmouth strongly recommend it? Depending on who is writing the peer recommendation, a Dartmouth admissions officer can better see how the applicant interacts with friends/peers/classmates etc which is used to infer how the student will contribute to the community
