Dartmouth Social Scene, & Dartmouth vs. Brown for ED

Hi! I’m entering my senior year and am beginning the college apps process. At the moment, I am deciding between Brown and Dartmouth for ED. I have visited both schools and certainly have done my homework on them. I am currently leaning more towards Brown, solely because of what I’ve read about Dartmouth’s social scene. I don’t mind the drinking/party scene, and I’ve had my share of that in high school. But I am concerned that at Dartmouth I wouldn’t have the chance to do more mature or interesting things which are available in a city like Providence - i.e. going to local plays or art galleries and museums, ethnic restaurants, etc. In short, I’m afraid Dartmouth’s social scene would be another 4 years of what I’m used to in suburbia. In addition I’m influenced my sister, who’s a senior at Colgate and admits to being tired of the same partying and drinking at frats for 4 years in an isolated location (which is what I hear about Dartmouth). However, I would consider EDing to Dartmouth over Brown for various reasons, including their greater accessibility to undergraduate research (I’ve read that you may be competing with grad students to do research at Brown).
I was wondering if anyone could give me an idea of interesting things to do at Dartmouth besides the partying.
And of course, I know that the first thing I have to worry about is getting in! I dont mean this post at all as an assumption that I’ll be accepted, just wondering if anyone had any advice that could sway my ED choice.
Thanks!
