<p>trying to narrow down my college list. . .starting to question Dartmouth on my list. Academically it'd be one of my top choices, but I'm not so sure about the location anymore. </p>
<p>the reason being that it seems to be in the middle of nowhere. I'd prefer a town or a city. . .so should I still consider Dartmouth? are there towns close by? I haven't been able to visit, so I ask you all for advice.</p>
<p>An adorable, quaint NE town stretches out from the campus. The GAP, restaurants, a grocery store, the basics. My son and friends head to Boston or Montreal for big city fun, about 2 and a half hour drive. Not for city needers, but one of the most beautiful, safe college towns in the Country.</p>

<p>I guess it depends on what you want out of college. I think there are alot of people who go to 'urban' experiences like Penn only to never really leave the local area bars. </p>
<p>I think Dartmouth doesn't feel as rural because the campus itself is so vibrant. Over four thousand kids and alot of activity makes for a pretty active experience. The upper valley area sucks, but does have things like a Best Buy, Walmart, Taco Bell, and everything else you will need. </p>
<p>It depends on what you want. If you are willing to trade a little on school spirit and a 'college' experience to be near a city it might not be for you. But for an active college experience where you get to know many of your classmates and professors it can't be beat.</p>
