Dartmouth v. Princeton Engineering

hey there! i've been considering both dartmouth and princeton, and i'm also looking into engineering (though i'm not completely set on that). i know that princeton has a stronger program in general, but i feel like dartmouth might be a better fit for me (i'll be visiting soon to confirm this). are the academics, research, and quality of teaching so good at the engineering departments of both universities that the difference in academics doesn't matter as much (and fitting in the school would be more important)? or is there a significant difference between the school's engineering programs? thanks!

If you are completely set on engineering, Princeton might be the better choice. Otherwise, Dartmouth’s is better. You’ll be exposed to all sorts of engineering branches while gaining skills in business, communication, writing, et cetera. It is much more well-rounded and much better at preparing you to be a leader in industry, finance, et cetera. If you want more of an MIT-like degree, go to Princeton. If not, come with me to Dartmouth! I’m going as an engineer (class of 2015). Any questions, please PM me. I have so much info. Also, you can call up the engineering professors there. They are so helpful. Hope to see you next year!

So a Dartmouth engineer is going to be better prepared to be a leader in industry and finance than a Princeton engineer?

why is this?

this is the most poplular engineering major at Princeton at the moment - the one that sends the kids to Wall Street and top consulting firms:

http://orfe.princeton.edu/

It’s just the education they give you. ORFE at Princeton is good for that too (possibly better if you know you want to go to Wall Street/want minimal sciences…ORFE is basically a business degree). Check this out, however:

^^^^^Dcu, so what are you saying?

That since Dartmouth is #1 and Princeton is #3, out of thousands of colleges in this Daily Beast ranking of powerful tech colleges, that Dartmouth better prepares its engineering students to be a leaders in industry and finance compared to Princeton engineering?

No need for a ****ing contest. Both are excellent for leadership in tech/finance.

That’s not what I was saying…

Princeton is better for a highly technical degree. If you aren’t looking for that, they are both fantastic choices. People often look down on Dartmouth’s engineering program, but it is a great program–just different.

^^^^^Dcu, should I remind you EXACTLY of what you said about Dartmouth Engineering v. Princeton Engineering?
