<p>i hope people don't start another one of these. check out the "dartmouth is more selective than penn" thread in the Penn forum and its accompanying parts. any "ivy vs ivy" thread usually ends in flame war</p>

<p>S considered both and obviously went to Dartmouth. Different places- city versus outdoors and Wharton versus more LA and possible Tuck Bridge Program. Going MBA,JD later anyway. Couldn't be happier with all that Dartmouth offers, including friendly campus and town, 15 minute bus trip to skiway, 150 yrd walk to golf course, river access, camping/cabins available, great food, D plan and foreign studies program, etc</p>

<p>Do you want a rural school or an urban school? a small school or a large school? The very northernmost Ivy or the very southernmost Ivy in terms of climate?</p>

<p>The schools are in so many ways at the extreme ends of the Ivy League. Dartmouth has the smallest class size, Penn has the second-largest. Dartmouth is in the smallest town, Penn in the second-largest city. Dartmouth has 4 schools, Penn has 12...</p>

<p>Some of the few things that both schools really have in common are being in the Ivy League, attracting the best and brightest of students, a reputation for partying hard (by Ivy standards, anyway), and having their alumni do very well in the business world.</p>

<p>Oh, and they're also both so hard to get into that it's a borderline crapshoot, and your best bet is applying to both in hope that at least 1 will say yes ;)</p>

<p>pre-professional or liberal arts education... which do you want? thats one of the big differences. both are amazing and one cannot be put above the other "hands down" so it comes down to what you want. </p>

<p>dartmouth has a cooler mascot tho</p>
