Hey everyone, I just got into Dartmouth off the waitlist, after already having submitted my deposit at Cornell. I had already kind of started to get pumped for going to Cornell (bought the gear, etc) , and now I'm a little confused about what to do. I loved Dartmouth when I visited (it was the only school I thought about applying early to) and at first Cornell was off my radar, but now after visiting Cornell again and spending two weeks thinking I was going there next year, I'm not so sure. I'd want to study government and music. any current Dartmouth students have thoughts?
thanks!

Both schools have competent programs. But follow your heart. The two schools are of the same caliber, and if you have already accepted the fact that you will be at cornell, then by all means don’t give that up–you might regret it later.

hey there…first congrats on ur admission to both wonderful schools…from your post, it sounds like u want to go to cornell more…in the end, go to the school that you feel like you will be the happiest at and have the best fit, that’s how i look it because…it is the next four years of your life… good luck with your decision!

I wouldn’t worry too much about academics at this point, but rather fit. I personally was accepted to both schools, and I chose Dartmouth because I loved the feel of the campus so much more, they seemed alot closer than cornellians to me. But of course, that’s just my fit. Find your favorite atmosphere and go there :)

I think Dartmouth would be my clear choice. The community seems so much more close and the undergrad focus seems awesome. I think Cornell is too big.

Also without trying to start a flame war I think Dartmouth is a better school.

^ Thanks for putting this civilly haha, unlike the UPenn kids. I’m going to Cornell next year and I have to say that the perceived difference between the two schools is not as vast as it may seem in terms of social environment. While Cornell and Dartmouth vary in size, I have to say they tend to have the chillest students. Dartmouth and Cornell both tend to attract the student leader type students who are smart but not completely socially awkward or elitist. IMO, the two most desirable non-HYP Ivy’s
