If grad school is on the horizon I’d personally be even more inclined to go with Courant.
It’s very close.
Dartmouth is underrated for its CS program. In fact they’ve invested a lot into the program lately.
NYU Courant is certainly a math powerhouse and their CS program funny enough is ALSO underrated.
This (to me) feels like a classic case of “pick on feel”. Like I live in NYC and I’d like to have my kid have a campus experience, which Dartmouth is a classic example of. However if you are from a rural area, maybe the draw of NYC is strong with you.
No - it’s not a joke - Dartmouth is Ivy. Most, outside of NYC and people who follow colleges closely, don’t know of NYU of more than anything than a Denver, American, Butler - name your mid level fine name.
The questioner claims he has enough saved up - just because you have it doesn’t mean you need to spend it.
I clearly stated they need to choose the best for them. People are choosing too much on pedigree - i.e. what everyone says about math and NYU and others about Dartmouth/Ivy.
Ask any question - and the questioner won’t answer.
Love both campuses. Love both school sizes. Love both weather.
You have ten days - choose a side.
If you truly have no preferences, then I’d pick the more affordable. Don’t know about your scholarships, etc. but if you have saved enough - you likely don’t have any.
An Ivy League reputationally will impress one’s entire life - so Ssnicker I assume you are an NYU student. No one else could ever deny that statement. NYU is in…no league Didn’t say it was bad…it’s all perception and frankly the entire ranking thing is silly. Fit and finances are what matters but the person asking just says both fit great.

If you read through my comments you’ll see I’m a sophomore at Dartmouth. Nice try though!
too many comments - you may be modest but my point is - the “perception” of Ivy and a handful of other schools - will always matter.
That’s not the case for NYU.
It’s not a reason to choose a school - but whether you believe it or not, that you went to Dartmouth (in name alone) will always be a gift to you no matter where you are (and not because of the alumni network).
Anyway, the questioner needs to decide for himself - but if he just says yes to everything like it’s equal - well, he can’t be helped.
Do you like fresh squeezed OJ or OJ in a can. Both.
NY Pizza or Chicago style - they’re both equally delicious.
Charmin 2 ply toilet paper or Scotts single ply…
You get my drift…
It’s time to make a decision - just ten days to go. If money is the same, pick the right one and don’t look back!!! Whichever you pick is likely the right one.
Another factor to consider:
Most Dartmouth students probably also got into (or could have got into) NYU
Most NYU students probably didn’t get into Dartmouth
(if that’s at all important to you)
Hey everyone! Thank you so much for all of the help and support. Based on responses and feedback that I have gotten from you guys, my family, reddit, and even quora–I think that I’m going to commit to NYU! The opportunities that are available at the Courant department (both research and classes wise in math and CS) is just to hard to pass up. I am willing to go there even if it means saying no to such a great school. Thanks again!
Amen! Congrats!
You were going to say no to a great school regardless.
Congrats on your decision.
Congratulations!
