Dartmouth vs. Williams / IVY vs. CAC

Overall, which is a better school: Dartmouth vs. Williams?
In terms of graduate school which is better?
Which is more prestigious?
Which would you choose and why?

Also, would you go Ivy or Lac? Williams is the best Nescac right?

Also, Which is harder to get into?

Thanks

Actually they are very close in terms of admissions rates or selectivity. Dartmouth is more widely known by the broader population but people in academia and business leaders will know of Williams

As always with two schools of comparable academic excellence in the same part of the country, it’s very much a question of fit: Which place feels more comfortable? Which one has more of the coursework that interests you? Which one has programs or unique resources that match your needs?

Overall, who was the better person - Ghandi or Einstein?

Two of the NESCAC schools, Conn. College and Trinity are slightly less difficult than the other nine.

Of the other nine, seven are really bunched together. Williams and Amherst would be the hardest of the nine to get into but the difference in selectivity is rather small and wouldn’t really apply to many students. You can decide if it’s easier to get into a school where the average ACT is 31 compared to 32.

Of the nine it is very possible that a group of students with the exact same qualifications get in some but not others.

The class sizes are small so many factors go into the outcome.

As for your question, I like Williams much more than Dartmouth.

I was accepted to both as a member of the class of 2019 this year, and after much deliberation I chose Dartmouth. This was a very difficult decision, as I loved both when I visited, but Dartmouth students seemed happier and more welcoming to me, and I learned that Dartmouth has more opportunities for research, extracurriculars, etc. That being said, I also loved Williams and will never know if I really made the right choice. Williams is just about as prestigious as Dartmouth, and its graduate school placement stats are stellar. You really can’t go wrong in choosing either school!
