Dartmouth?

Can I get into Dartmouth?

Caucasian male from a small, catholic school in PA. (on my sisters yahoo account)
No relatives who attended Dartmouth
I am interested in being a premed and majoring in something related to bio

SAT - best scores were CR-620 M-710 Wr-740 (total 2070)
ACT - 30
in both cases reading score was the part that hurt me. Should I retake both, or concentrate on one?

SAT2s - 730 Bio M 650 Chem 730 US History

Courses:

Freshman & Sophomore Year
Took standard courses with advanced level science courses (my school does not have 'honors' courses) and got all As with one B+ (ugh!)

Junior year:
AP Bio - A (expecting 5 on AP exam)
APUSH - A (expecting 4 on AP exam)
Pre-calc - A+
Also took the required courses such as a trig, english, spanish etc and got all As and A+s

Senior year:
will be taking AP English, AP Calc AB, and AP Government
I am taking spanish from a local college for credit

I have taken the most rigorous course load that my school offers and have been successful in these courses, but have not had all of the APs that some other schools offer

Extracurriculars:
Varsity tennis team (soph - sr year)
-most improved player soph year
Black belt - karate (have many honors and awards)

NHS
Service Organization - elected as an officer for both junior and senior year
film club - elected as an officer for sr year
Environmental Awareness Club - officer jr and sr year
Student Council - soph year
School literary journal - member jr and sr year - officer sr year

Volunteer -
volunteer at a local nursing home for 1 summer (i wanted to continue this summer but im too busy)
traveled across the country with a church group to do service over a school break
will be tutoring a math student next year

Job
assistant karate instructor for 4 hours a week
babysit

Other:
Do cancer research with a local scientist - our findings will be published in the near future. This takes up most of my time (especially my summers) which prevents me from getting a job or volunteering this summer. Is that a risk?

I am really interested in attending Dartmouth, but am scared this would be too much of a longshot.
Should I apply ED, or would it be a waste. If i didnt apply ED I could apply EA to reach schools tlike Georgetown and UChicago, as well as schools like Providence College and Wake Forest (not as much of a reach)

Other schools I would love to apply to include Holy Cross, Brown, Tufts, Union, Johns Hopkins, Lehigh, Lafayette, Washington University in St Louis and Duke

Let me know what you think and do not be afraid to be honest

Please chance me…i will chance back!

If you apply ED, you’ll have a shot at Dartmouth. Since your coming from a small school too.
Other then Brown, Duke, JHU, you’ll get into all of them for sure. The other ones you have a shot at.
Chance me back please!

You definitely have a great shot. Your stats are good and you have great ECs. But as they always say, Ivy League admissions are crap shoots. Only apply ED if you are positive you want to go. I wouldn’t personally because I’m paranoid and if
I ended up not liking it as much as I wanted to, it’d kill me that I HAD to go if accepted

Your stats are too low for Dartmouth - you need to retake the SAT or ACT. As seen at [Testing Statistics](http://www.dartmouth.edu/admissions/facts/test-stats.html) your critical reading and math scores are below the 25th percentile for the school - which is very bad, since most of the admitted students populating the bottom of the distribution are athletes and minorities. Retake the SAT for a 2200+ and apply ED if you want a chance, though ECs are also weak so it’s a longshot even then.

You are probably on the low end, without spectacular ECs or scores. You might stand a chance if you apply ED and retake the SATs, but it’s definitely a high reach.

Chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1169583-chance-nervous-senior-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

I think you have a decent chance, and I say that because Dartmouth is a bit finicky and it’s hard to say for anyone really. But your courses seem great. If you plan on going into science, definitely take a math SAT; I recommend Math II. Your extracurriculars are great. If you retake the ACT, try aiming for a 33. And if you retake the SAT, definitely raise your CR score and try to raise your math score too if you plan on going into science. Personally, I would retake the SAT.

Chance me back?
