Chances at Dartmouth, Middlebury? I'll apply to Dartmouth ED.
Can anyone recommend safety schools? Am looking for the same type of thing - small New England LAC's.

Sorry, I'm a bit panicky about this.

Hi!

My guess is you have a strong shot for Dartmouth ED, since your ECs are pretty good, your rank is high, and your scores are "on target".

I would say Middlebury is almost safe for you RD, so don't stress too much!

I would look into Colgate as a safety (it is for you). Make sure you apply to Amherst and Williams if Dartmouth doesnt pan out ED to hedge your bets. Also, Vassar is an awesome school (less "new englandy" but still Northeast beautiful).

Thanks. Anyone else?

One more question: My school gives me a choice whether I want to release my rank or not. If my rank does fall, should I withhold it? How far would it have to fall before it would hurt me significantly? Not very far at all, I assume.

Release your rank as long as you are still in the top 10 %. If you don't, and the school gives the option, colleges will think you are hiding something. Your transcript matters more anyway.

Raise your "4.0ish" GPA

Yeah, the GPA is my main concern. It's a bit late to do anything now though. Oh, and those are all uw, btw. My school calculates weighted (for rank, etc) but we never see it.

...bump...

bump

New SAT scores: 740CR, 750M, 750W...probably retaking in October.

..and, bump again.
