Dasa 2013-14

Hey guys! Anyone here applying for admission to the NIT's via the Direct admission of Students Abroad (DASA) Scheme? What are your college preferences? What SAT2 scores are you expecting?

Where are you from ???
I am from Oman and many people here have gone to decent schools with a 700-730 score

I’m a British Citizen living in India. Did my 11th and 12 from a CBSE school in India.

Then you aren’t gonna get any benefit from the scheme

Hi everybody,
Iam also trying for DASA admission this year ,will the cut off scores be higher than last year.i prefer to go to calicut,i have written sat 2 sub tests in may.I found physics a bit tough.what about you guys

@BChanakya I don’t see what you mean.
IDK if the cutoffs will be higher or not… sure hope not
Physics was long not tough. That’s what it was like for me…

What are your applicant IDs?

My top preferences are NITK-CSE, NIT-W -CSE and NIT-T CSE
I heard NITW is has very good CSE faculty

It Oscar not meant for people living in India… you have to attend high school abroad and Britain isn’t a part of the list of the countries eligible… that is the reason I said you won’t get any benefits from DASA

No I am eligible. DASA is for both NRI’s and Foreign Nationals/PIO’s.
The condition for NRI’s is that they have to study 11th and 12th abroad. There is no such condition for Foreign Nationals/PIO’s.

I think DASA scheme is being utilised more by gulf NRI’s.BUT foreign citizens with OCI can also apply even if they are studying in India.Any idea about the no of applications this time

B chanakya What is the trend this year in oman.Any idea how many people are applying from there. Is there any other website where there r discussions about the current yr DASA application process.

Jaijawan: almost every high school graduate this year is applying through DASA …around 200-300 from my school…around a 1000 from Indian School Muscat…around 1000-2000 from rest of Oman…3-4 times this from Dubai Abu Dhabi… and rest of UAE…Saudi and Kuwait …Qatar… Bahrain…etc…I hope you get an idea how popular it is here…

That is a lot…any idea how many applicants there were last year? Just to get an idea of the increase in competition…

Do you think mechanical will be the most sought after branch this year too?
Why do most people prefer south indian NITs?

There were a little fewer applicants last year…but there has been more widespread efforts to popularised this scheme…so the numbers will keep on rising

Mechanical, Electronics and Communication and Computer Science; they are the top, most popular branches. The southh NITs ie Trichy, Warangal, Surathkal are consistently ranked in the top 3 so that is why they are preferred.

Sat 2 scores will be out in 2 days.
Soham D r u applying to UK colleges or just aiming to get into NIT through DASA .I can’t find any other website with active discussions on DASA 2013.plz inform me if there is any.

Umm no, I’m just aiming for any of the top 3 NITs really. Haven’t considered any International Unis at all. And no even I couldn’t find any active discussions anywhere, so I just created one here :stuck_out_tongue: This site is good for info though:
