<p>I just submitted my common app, and most, if not all, of my supplements use the em dash. In the work box as well as word, the two-dashes (--) autocorrected to the em dash, but on the PDF format of them, it corrected it back to just one hyphen (-). I'm afraid that the admissions officers might think that I don't know how to use this properly. Will this be okay?</p>
<p>I can’t make any more changes either, I didn’t even catch it but now that I read it I’m really scared. </p>
<p>If anyone has read essays for admission, please help me.</p>

<p>They won’t care if it’s the double dash or the single dash, I doubt that a single admissions person (or really most people) knows the difference between them or cares about it at all. Relax.</p>
<p>FWIW, I’m glad you care about the difference between an em- and en-dash. It gives me hope.
