Defered :(

I don't know what else I could have done. My essays weren't amazing, but I was out of school for 5 weeks due to mono. I'm fourth in my class in the best public high school in new hampshire. Im pres. of nhs, treasurer and co-founder of debate, founder of community service club, treasurer of student council, and publicity officer in french club. i had a two hour interview (which was amazing) and great teacher recs. I don't have a job, but would that be the reason for my deferal? Anyone, if you can find anything bad in my resume, let me know. i really want to go to bowdoin and if there's anything u find as my reason for not being accepted, let me know. sadness. any other ideas of where to apply?
colby
uconn
bucknell
vassar
bc
anywhere else?

KAtie

Camus, don't worry about it. I'm sure that you will love wherever you end up.

My niece got in. What she did was met with several professors who were in fields she was interested in (she found articles by them online and read them first). This was part of the reason it appeared to Bowdoin that she was specifically interested in the school. She met with people at the Coastal Studies Center too. Her essay was very much related to Bowdoin - they have a Perry-MacMillan museum and she wrote about wanting to follow in Perry's footsteps. Her passion for Bowdoin in particular was really, really clear. She also had some pretty impressive ECs that involved national awards, creating an initiative with an inner-city high school, etc. - not just high school ECs like clubs.

Wait til January, do a little more research, then write a letter about why you are absolutely certain Bowdoin is still your first choice - be specific about programs or buildings or history or whatever it takes.

Hope this helps. But even if you don't get in, I agree with Oliver that you will love wherever you end up. Have you thought about Connecticut College?

rejected...any suggestions on where to apply now?

nedad, I think I will do just that. Also, can I send in an extra reccemendation? I NEED TO GET IN! Sara, sorry you were rejected. This stinks...I thought we were both strong canidates.
Try:
Connecticut College
Colby
Bucknell
Vassar
Wellesley ?
Smith
Bates (yucky town)
Middleburry

Sara and Camus - everything happens for a reason, and you both will be happy no matter where you end up. Have either one of you looked at Dickinson, Mt. Holyoke, or Case Western Reserve Univ.? They all are great schools. Btw, I still haven't gotten my letter. Ahh, the joys of living in Western PA.

Does anyone have any stats regarding ED deferral at Bowdoin? Better or worse chances than regular decision?

Rejected. Oh well. Life goes on, one school down - 7 to go. Good luck to all of you, Bowdoin ED was fun while it lasted
