I know how you feel elysse!! My guidance counselor called today to find out what happened becasue she was very surprised I was rejected and Bowdoin said that because I had some high 80s in tenth grade (in honors and AP classes) they couldnt admit me....good luck with the rest of your applications I have 7 more to do as well during christmas vacation...where else will you be applying?

That makes no sense whatsoever. My niece had an 84 in AP Bio - and she is MAJORING in Bio! She had several other B's as well in AP and honor courses. I don't see how what you were told could possibly be true......

Sara lives in mass. Maybe they were looking for diversity? I only have two B's (one B and another B+) on my transcript, all the rest are A's. A 4.3 GPA. Maybe they were really looking to get some diversity in this year. Where is your niece from, nedad?

But the sad part is, is that is what they told me, they said everything was exceptional...everything they were looking for in a student...I had no bad recs and many ecs with top leadership responsibilities and over 400 hours of community service while holding a job year round....they said the applicant pool was so competetive that they had to "split hairs and really look deep into everyones transcripts"....sad but true, your niece probably had something else to give her an edge, congrats on her acceptance...

This is yucky. Did it say on your letter that they had a record number of ED applicants? They wrote that on my deferal. My guidance councelor, too, was shocked. I said to my guidance councelor, "What else could I have done?" And she said, "Nothing. You did all you could." We're both great students and just because we weren't accepted doesn't mean we're not good enough.

You both will thrive no matter where you attend college. It's their loss...

Precisely......
