Waitlist Information

UCLA and Merced have opt out of the waitlist again this year. Last year only Davis and Santa Babara admitted students from the waitlist. What you need to know about the waitlist:
You may receive waitlist offers from more than one campus. You may accept as many offers as you wish.
Once offered a spot on a waitlist, you will need to opt in. Instructions for doing so will be included with the waitlist notification.
Even if you accept a waitlist offer (or several), you should submit a Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) to a UC campus or another college where you have been accepted. If you later accept an offer of admission from a campus where you have been waitlisted, you will forfeit your deposit at the first campus.
Waitlisted applicants will receive admission notification no later than June 1.
Preliminary financial aid awards will be sent shortly after offers of admission and before you have to make a decision about accepting. SIRs of waitlisted students will be considered on time for purposes of housing and orientation, provided they are submitted by the deadline stated in the offer of admission.

I just got an Email. it will be released March 21st at 4pm

Just rcvd this email from UCSB:
Greetings, UCSB Applicant:
Thank you again for submitting your application to the University of California, Santa Barbara for fall quarter, 2011.
Since December, we have been reading and evaluating more than 63,000 freshman and transfer applications to UCSB. On Monday, March 21, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. (PST), we expect to post freshman admission decisions and some transfer admission decisions on our website - www.admissions.ucsb.edu/applicant . Transfer decisions will continue to be updated through May 1, 2011 as applications are evaluated.

yea proudparent, my heart jumped when I saw the title of the email, but then they’re just telling us when the decisions are going to be available

My son was admitted from the waitlisted last year. He found out on May 5 that he had been admitted. I went to an involved parents luncheon last month and this is what I found out. The average GPA for Fall 2011 applicants is 4.0. The average GPA for Fall 2010 applicants was 3.98. 2000 kids were offered a place on the waitlist last year and 1000 opted to stay on. Nearly everyone was acecpted from the waitlist.

I also found out that UCSB wanted everyone on the waitlist and they all would have been accepted and not placed on a waitlist if they had been in the applicant pool for Fall 2009. However, they were unsure about the number of acceptances last year because of the economy and they did not want to over enroll.

He had enrolled at another university but had only given a deposit for housing which was returned.

Visy93 ~ Your not kidding, I was so nervous to open the email. My daughter just got rejected from Cal Poly SLO so we’re banking on this acceptance. The suspense is killing me.

I know proudparent, I really hate this month. I really hate Irvine right now, I hate this “releasing in waves” stuff, it’s a bunch of bull feces.

I just flashbacked to the morning when I checked my admission status on UCSB’s website on the classroom computer, after coming off a rejection from Irvine but before my acceptance from Davis.

I was pleasantly, and the news (pleasantly) shocked my mother, for she swore I was UCR fodder. rofl.
