where did they release this? link please.
they didnt post their decision release date, did they?

I find it ironic that they're releasing the dates of their admitted students weekend before decisions are even out. It's like "here, you can't do anything with this information yet, but in case you're curious..."

And I second Tong's question about a decisions date. Where is everyone getting this March 31st date from?

This link is for Princeton students who want to be hosts for admitted students,

Welcome

but it contains good information for those who are curious about the schedule and dates for the two Princeton Preview weekends.

Some pertinent information, taken from the site's FAQ section:

"What are the dates?

Thursday, April 10 through Saturday, April 12

and

Thursday, April 17 through Saturday, April 19

**Programs are scheduled to end by 10:30 am on each Saturday morning.

Why are there two dates?
This year, all admitted students will be invited to attend Princeton Preview. Given the expansion of the program, and the number of anticipated attendees, we will host two separate programs so that every student can be accommodated. "

yeah.. i saw that page a long time ago (from my friend's facebook link :P)
i just thought maybe it was sort of a press release and might have included the decision release date as well.

And I second Tong's question about a decisions date. Where is everyone getting this March 31st date from?"

a) Princeton needs to release this information before decisions dates, because many people (including myself) need more than 10 days notice to travel across the country, booking hotels, airlines, rental cars, etc. I live in California.

b) Traditionally, Ivy Leagues release their decisions on the same day. Last year, decisions for ivies came out on March 29th. This year, the logical choices for release are either Friday March 28th, or Monday March 31st.
I would actually like to think the committees would prefer to get those decisions out before the weekend, which would be nice for us too - not having the weekend anxiety.

yale already said their date was the 31st, as did cornell and brown. so, i think everyone is just assuming that all the other ivies will follow suit.

@padfoot- I totally understand, as I live in Michigan and would have to fly, too. But I wouldn't want to book a flight and then not get accepted.

Sorry for the confusion. I just thought applicants would be interested to know what the dates were. My son is a freshman at Princeton, and was notified of the dates from the university. They are seeking volunteers to host the accepted students; something they need to plan ahead for.

Well fortunately, I'll be visiting Duke the weekend before Princeton's admitted students weekend. So, I'll be relatively close to Princeton and able to tour all my colleges conveniently during that week that is my spring break. So I suppose I don't have the flight booking problem that others might.

CMA1 :) thank you for your thoughtful post sharing the link! I found it
quite useful.

The 3rd Friday in April hass been the traditional date in past years;
Guess the 10th-12th is an additional one this year; interestingly that coincides with MIT CPW.

:)

Hey guys! I didn't apply to Princeton and I rarely check this board, but I thought I'd share some info I read online.

The Ivy's release their letters on the same day as each other every year. This year it is March 31. I guess it's by some contract that they have with each other, which makes sense because the Ivy's are just a sports league name (basically). So it can be assumed that they also work with each other when setting their visit weekend dates. I think it's interesting that Princeton has theirs on two weekends.... but after reading this board, this is what I have concluded: If it is Princeton's tradition to have it on the 3rd (or second?) weekend in April, then they will have it on that weekend, which they do, but it is also Dartmouth's preview weekend, so that is why they have an earlier date as well.

Of course, this is just speculation, but it makes sense. =)

Goodluck Princeton applicants!

CPW was also on the same date as April Hosting last year, which is why I went to CPW and missed Princeton's thing. I think they've remedied that by adding another weekend possibility.

My interviewer told me all Ivies were releasing decisions on the 31st.

Thanks for posting this! I'm SO excited/nervous to find out my admissions decision.

my visions of attending that weekend are making me drool.

otherwise, i guess i know which weekends in april i'll be particularly bitter

I completely understand the anxiety students must be going through now. My son was in this boat last year. I hope you all get good news.

Apt if Princeton really does = Paradise.

It does....
